The recent advances in pigeon pea genomics, including high-quality whole genome and chloroplast genome sequence information helped develop improved varieties. However, a comprehensive Cajanus proteome, including the organelle proteome, is yet to be fully mapped. The spatial delineation of pigeon pea proteins at sub-cellular levels and inter-organelle communication could offer valuable insights into its defense mechanism against various stresses.

To find prevalence of noise induced hearing loss (NIHL) among auto drivers in central Bangalore using a structured questionnaire and audiometric evaluation. To establish a relation between age and duration of work to the presence of noise induced hearing loss among the autorickshaw drivers. To assess the validity of the questionnaire as a screening tool.

Synergistic-aggregation and cross-seeding by two different proteins/peptides in the amyloid aggregation are well evident in various neurological disorders including Alzheimer's disease. Here, we show co-storage of human Prolactin (PRL), which is associated with lactation in mammals, and neuropeptide galanin (GAL) as functional amyloids in secretory granules (SGs) of the female rat. Using a wide variety of biophysical studies, we show that irrespective of the difference in sequence and structure, both hormones facilitate their synergic aggregation to amyloid fibrils.

Article Synopsis
  • * The study investigates a hot-dip zinc coating based on V/TiO that shows improved electrochemical properties, offering long-term resistance to biocorrosion and effective bacterial inhibition.
  • * Various characterization techniques were employed, and results showed that the V/TiO coating significantly reduced biofilm formation and maintained high efficiency against bacterial growth, confirming its potential for applications in aquatic and marine environments.

The present paper reports for the first time the development and application of novel Zn wetted CeO (Zn/CeO) composite galvanic zinc coating to combat microbial induced corrosion (MIC). Zinc metal-metal interaction causes the effective incorporation of composite into the galvanic coating and accordingly increases the active sites for antibiofouling activity. The developed coatings are explored for their anticorrosion/antibiofouling characteristics toward MIC induced by cultured seawater consortia.

The present paper reports about the superior performance of some amine-based proton sources in enhancing the photocatalytic efficiency of Fe2O3-TiO2 composite during a water-splitting reaction. The band gap of the Fe2O3-TiO2 catalyst is tuned to 2.3 eV by varying the Fe content.

α-Synuclein (α-Syn) aggregation and amyloid formation are associated with loss of dopaminergic neurons in Parkinson's disease (PD). In addition, familial mutations in α-Syn are shown to be one of the definite causes of PD. Here we have extensively studied familial PD associated α-Syn G51D, H50Q, and E46K mutations using Drosophila model system.

We present a perfusion culture system with miniature bioreactors and peristaltic pumps. The bioreactors are designed for perfusion, live-cell imaging studies, easy incorporation of microfabricated scaffolds, and convenience of operation in standard cell culture techniques. By combining with miniature peristaltic pumps-one for each bioreactor to avoid cross-contamination and to maintain desired flow rate in each-we have made a culture system that facilitates perfusion culture inside standard incubators.

The present study was carried out to evaluate the effects of virgin coconut oil (VCO) compared with copra oil, olive oil and sunflower-seed oil on the synthesis and oxidation of fatty acids and the molecular regulation of fatty acid metabolism in normal rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed the test oils at 8 % for 45 d along with a synthetic diet. Dietary supplementation of VCO decreased tissue lipid levels and reduced the activity of the enzymes involved in lipogenesis, namely acyl CoA carboxylase and fatty acid synthase (FAS) (P< 0·05).

Virgin coconut oil (VCO) extracted by wet processing is popular among the scientific field and society nowadays. The present study was carried out to examine the comparative effect of VCO with copra oil (CO), olive oil (OO) and sunflower oil (SFO) on endogenous antioxidant status and paraoxonase 1 activity in ameliorating the oxidative stress in rats. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed different oils at 8% level for 45 days along with the synthetic diet.

Effect of virgin coconut oil (VCO) on lipid levels and regulation of lipid metabolism compared with copra oil (CO), olive oil (OO), and sunflower oil (SFO) has been reported. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were fed different oils at 8% level for 45 days along with synthetic diet. Results showed that VCO feeding significantly lowered (P < 0.
