Development of E-Service Provision System Architecture Based on IoT and WSNs for Monitoring and Management of Freight Intermodal Transportation.

The problems of developing intelligent service provision systems face difficulties in the representation of dynamic aspects of cargo transportation processes and integration of different and heterogeneous ICT components to support the systems' necessary functionality. This research aims to develop the architecture of the e-service provision system that can help in traffic management, coordination of works at trans-shipment terminals, and provide intellectual service support during intermodal transportation cycles. The objectives concern the secure application of the Internet of Things (IoT) technology and wireless sensor networks (WSNs) to monitor transport objects and context data recognition.

Clinical Characteristics and Outcomes of Malignant Glaucoma after Different Procedures Treated with Pars Plana Vitrectomy: A 10-Year Retrospective Study.

Despite established common risk factors, malignant glaucoma (MG) remains a rare condition with challenging management. We aimed to analyze differences in risk factors for MG after different surgeries and outcomes after pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). This retrospective study included cases of MG treated with PPV between January 2005 and December 2015 in the Department of Ophthalmology, Lithuanian University of Health Sciences, Kaunas, Lithuania.

Keratoprosthesis surgery as an alternative to keratoplasty.

Corneal transplant surgery after chemical or thermal burns has a very low success rate. Vision in these patients can be restored by using an artificial cornea (keratoprosthesis). In this report, we present 5 clinical cases of implanting a fresh corneal graft with Boston type 1 keratoprosthesis in patients with corneas inappropriate for standard corneal transplantation.

Possible predisposing factors for late intraocular lens dislocation after routine cataract surgery.

Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate possible risk factors for late intraocular lens (IOL) dislocation after routine cataract surgery.

Material And Methods: A retrospective analysis of medical records of all the patients who were treated in the university hospital between 2011 and 2012 for late IOL dislocation requiring surgical management after routine cataract surgery was performed. In total, 58 patients (58 eyes) were included into the study.

Bilateral endogenous bacterial panophthalmitis.

We present a case of meningitis with bilateral endogenous bacterial panophthalmitis in a previously healthy individual. The management of this ocular condition is unclear, and the prognosis is poor. The patient was admitted to the Clinic of Eye Diseases after a 9-day treatment with systemic antibiotics with a complete systemic recovery but impaired vision of both eyes.
