Distal femoral fit non-cemented arthroplasty in proximal deficient femur--early results.

Revision surgeries in failed proximal femoral pathologies following osteosynthesis or some kind of replacements pose a challenging task. These can be well managed by distally well fitted extensively coated hydroxyapatide long non-cemented interlocked Reef-Dupuy stem. Here a short series of 10 cases with average follow-up of 3 years is being presented.

Outcome of different modalities of surgical management of chronic osteomyelitis of calcaneum.

In 1931,Gaenslen reported the outcome of 11 cases of calcaneal osteomyelitis which were treated with a splitting of the heel bone into two halves of almost same sizes and thorough curettage done of the infected cancellous bone from inner side. Ten cases were operated with split heel approach in this series and partial or subtotal calcanectomy was performed in 4 cases where involvement of bone with osteomyelitis was extensive.Excision of calcaneum was performed from approximately one cm distal to sub-talar joint.

Evaluation of results of minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) of distal tibial fractures in adults.

Treatment of unstable fractures of distal tibia using minimally invasive plate osteosynthesis (MIPO) techniques may minimise soft tissue Injury and damage to the vascular integrity of the fracture fragments. The results of 20 patients treated by MIPO for closed fractures of distal tibia are reported. Their mean age was 42 years (range: 22-68 years).

Augmented versus non-augmented open surgical repair of fresh tendo-achilles injury: a prospective randomised study.

Injuries to the tendo-achilles in our country are mostly open injuries due to fall or slippage into the Indian type of lavatory pan. After thorough debridement open repair of the tendoachilles is done by non-augmented or augmented method. We studied about the augmented versus non-augmented open surgicalrepair of fresh tendo-achilles injuries.

Transcervical osteotomy with modified Tupman plate for fracture neck femur--a new concept.

Fracture neck femur is still regarded as unsolved fracture especially in non-union and in some vertical shear fracture (Powel's 3). Two types of osteotomies Mcmurry and Shanz valgus osteotomy are suggested, both have some disadvantages. In this context, a transcervical osteotomy has been studied.

Operative management of closed intra-articular fractures of distal end of humerus in adults.

This is a study of 60 patients with mean age of 30 years having intra-articular fracture of distal humerus of type C (AO classification). We treated these fractures by open reduction and internal fixation through transolecranon approach. Mean duration of operative time with that of injury was 10 days.
