Background: Anxiety is common in pregnant women. Many studies have shown association of antenatal anxiety with adverse pregnancy outcomes, though the results are conflicting. Further, there are very limited studies on the subject reported from India, due to which, the data is limited.

Lifetime alcohol consumption and severity in alcohol dependence syndrome.

Introduction: Alcohol dependence syndrome is a major public health issue globally and is responsible for significant morbidity and mortality. The total dose of alcohol consumed has been linked to liver diseases, pancreatitis, and other alcohol-related medical consequences. However, this has not been studied in relation to severity of dependence; although it is well known that alcohol causes neuronal damage, which in turn potentiates dependence.

Corneal endothelial alterations in alcohol dependence syndrome.

Background/aims: To evaluate the corneal endothelial changes in patients with alcohol dependence syndrome (ADS).

Methods: A total of 322 corneas of 322 subjects were studied, and two groups were formed. The first, the ADS group, included 161 corneas of 161 patients and the second, the age-matched control group, was composed of 161 corneas of 161 healthy subjects.
