Trichodysplasia spinulosa: a presentation of polyomavirus infection in immunosuppressed patients.

Trichodysplasia spinulosa (TS) is a rare skin condition that occurs mainly in immunosuppressed patients. Although initially postulated to be an adverse effect of immunosuppressants, TS-associated polyomavirus (TSPyV) has since been isolated from TS lesions and is now considered to be the causative agent. Trichodysplasia spinulosa presents with folliculocentric papules with protruding keratin spines, most commonly on the central face.

Dermatology education resources on sun safety and skin cancer targeted at Spanish-speaking patients: a systematic review.

Hispanic adults with skin cancer are known to exhibit worsened outcomes compared to their counterparts. To critically evaluate the literature on methods to educate Spanish-speaking patients on sun safety and skin cancer, we conducted a systematic review of PubMed, SCOPUS, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane Central Register databases from inception through December 18, 2021. Evidence quality was assessed using criteria from the Oxford Centre for Evidence-Based Medicine.

Real-world utilization of Delphi consensus diagnostic criteria for suspected pyoderma gangrenosum.

We found that the systematic use of Delphi consensus diagnostic criteria resulted in substantial changes in management patterns in cases of suspected pyoderma gangrenosum (PG), including a reduction in systemic corticosteroid use, and significantly improved clinical outcomes. This improvement may have resulted from a combination of reduced misdiagnosis, optimized management and reduced iatrogenic harm. Increased utilization of validated diagnostic criteria for PG could optimize provider heuristics, increase diagnostic accuracy, and optimize management and clinical outcomes.

We present a 29-year-old non-atopic male apprentice power lineman and recreational cowboy with a case of allergic contact dermatitis due to both occupational and recreational exposure. He presented with a 4-month history of a pruritic, steroid-responsive, intermittent hand, foot and leg dermatitis. Patch testing was positive for chromium, cobalt and a piece of leather from his cowboy boots.

A subtype of chronic pain is neuropathic pain (NP), which is defined as "pain caused by a lesion or disease of the somatosensory system," according to the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). The pathophysiology of neuropathic pain is very complex, and more research needs to be done to find the exact mechanism.
