Early Retinal Detachments Following Open Globe Repair: Incidence and Risk Factors.

Purpose: Risk factors for the development of rhegmatogenous retinal detachments (RRDs) in the early postoperative period following open globe repair (OGR) are not well understood. RRDs are often diagnosed late after OGIs, which can negatively impact visual prognosis. We assessed the incidence and risk factors that predict the development of this complication.

Medication Refill Adherence in Patients with Chronic Inflammatory Eye Disease.

Purpose: To utilize pharmacy dispenses to investigate adherence rates to immunosuppressive therapy (IMT) for the treatment of noninfectious inflammatory eye disease (IED), impact of adherence on disease control, factors associated with nonadherence, and association between adherence in the medical record and pharmacy dispenses.

Method: Retrospective medical chart review was conducted on patients followed for at least 2 years in the uveitis clinic. Appointment and lab attendance, and provider documentation, determined adherence through the medical record.

A prospective study on single-port versus multiport patient-reported surgical outcomes.

Introduction: We sought to determine potential patient reported advantages of the da Vinci single-port (SP) robotic system for urological procedures compared with the previous model, the da Vinci multiport (MP) system. The SP model utilizes a single 30 to 40 mm incision rather than multiple 5 to 22 mm incisions. This project aims to prospectively investigate the impact of the novel SP system on patient reported cosmetic and psychometric surgical outcomes.

Introduction: The da Vinci SP single-port system, differently from prior platforms, utilizes a single 2.5 cm incision to accommodate 1 flexible camera and 3 articulated robotic arms. Potential advantages include shorter hospitalization, improved cosmesis, and reduced postoperative pain.
