A series of six azaborahelicenes with varying electron-donor substitution at the 4-position of the aryl residue (, naphthyl) or with variable π-extension of the aryl residue (thianthrenyl, anthryl, pyrenyl) was prepared with an efficient and flexible synthetic protocol. These different types of functionalization afforded notably pronounced intramolecular charge-transfer (ICT) character for the dyes with the strongest electron donor substitution (NMe) or easiest to oxidize aryl residues, as evidenced by photophysical investigations. These effects also impact the corresponding chiroptical properties of the separated - and -enantiomers, which notably display circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) with dissymmetry factors in the order of magnitude of 10 to 10.

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) are cutting-edge platforms for combined diagnostic and therapeutic approaches due to their exquisite physicochemical and optical properties. Using the AuNPs physically produced by femtosecond pulsed laser ablation of bulk Au in deionized water, with a capping agent-free surface, the conjugation of functional ligands onto the AuNPs can be tunable between 0% and 100% coverage. Sewage sludge (SS) is a potential resource for P and other nutrients, but often contaminated with metals. SS containing Pb-102, Zn-968, Cu-267, Cr-101, Mn-222, and Fe-8374 mg kg was washed in a batch process for 1 h with a recycled washing solution containing 50 mmol L of recycled EDTA and 50 mmol L HSO, solid/liquid ratio 1/7 (w/V). In this study, we show that fluorescent boronic-acid derived salicylidenehydrazone complexes (BASHY) can function as fluorescent linkers for bioconjugates that were used to monitor the delivery of the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib (Btz) to HT-29 cancer cells. BASHY complexes were structurally optimized to improve the stability of the complex in buffered conditions (ammonium acetate, pH 7 up to = 40 h), photophysically characterized regarding their fluorescence properties and used in confocal microscopy colocalization studies that revealed their intracellular sequestration by lipid droplets. The accumulation in these hydrophobic organelles limited the hydrolysis of the complex and consequently the drug release, a problem that was circumvented by the conjugation of the BASHY-Btz complex with a cell-penetrating peptide GV1001-C.

The ABO incompatible (ABOi) living donor (LD) kidney transplant allows increasing the number of donors and reducing the time on the waiting list.
