Background: Lu PSMA therapy is increasingly used for metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) treatment. However, data on its efficacy and safety in patients previously treated with Ra remain limited.

Methods: This retrospective, multicenter study evaluated 233 mCRPC patients treated with Lu PSMA at 5 European centers.

Background And Objective: Collagen biosynthesis is intricately involved in the development and progression of solid tumors. Renin-angiotensin system inhibitors (RASi) impede TGF-β-mediated collagen synthesis in tumors by hindering activation of the angiotensin receptor. Our aim was to investigate a potential association between RASi use and the aggressiveness of prostate cancer (PCa).

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the most prevalent malignancy and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men. While adenocarcinoma of the prostate (adeno-PCa) is well-characterized, neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) remains poorly understood. Generally, NEPC is a rare but highly aggressive histological variant, however its limited patho-physiological understanding leads to insufficient treatment options associated with low survival rates for NEPC patients.

Background: Small cell neuroendocrine prostate cancer (SCNC) is a rare aggressive type of neuroendocrine prostate cancer (NEPC) characterized by aggressive clinical course and lack of response to hormone therapy.

Case Description: We present a case report of a 60-year-old man diagnosed with a histologically confirmed primary metastatic (bone, lymph nodes and visceral) SCNC with small components of an adenocarcinoma with clinical symptoms mimicking an acute prostatitis. Of note, serum based neuroendocrine markers (carcinoembryonic antigen, chromogranin A) were negative and the patient had a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) elevation.

Article Synopsis
  • Two randomized trials have established that triplet therapy (androgen deprivation therapy, ARPI, and docetaxel) provides better survival rates compared to doublet therapy (ADT and docetaxel) for patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer.
  • A real-world analysis involving 97 mHSPC patients from various Austrian centers was conducted, tracking treatment responses and clinical parameters, while certain guideline-based treatments were underutilized in a significant percentage of the patients.
  • Findings showed that patients who started ARPI after chemotherapy had better treatment responses, while 61.9% experienced adverse events, yet all patients had a notable decline in PSA levels, indicating treatment effectiveness.

Objective: An estimation of haemostasis parameters in the major abdominal surgery in comparision with surgical stress-response markers depending on anaesthesia and analgesia technique.

Methods: 120 patients scheduled to undergo elective low-abdominal surgery were allocated to receive either general anaesthesia (n=40) or combined (general + epidural (n=40) or general + spinal (n=40)) anaesthesia. Postoperative analgesia, glucose, cortisol and cytokine levels, as well as coagulation, fibrinolysis, thrombocyte aggregation parameters were estimated.

Hybrid heliocomposites were used for repair of the carious tooth crown. Ultrastructural study of mucosa biopsy specimens from sites adjacent to the filling 3 weeks after treatment showed that Charisma, Herculite, and Esterfil Ca filling materials led to degenerative changes in the mucosa, while Filtek Z-250 heliocomposite caused no pathological changes in the gingiva at the site of contact.

Reaction to infusion of 7.5% sodium chloride solution was studied in 81 patients with endogenous intoxication during development of critical arterial hypotension which could not be prevented or arrested by routine high-dose therapy. The reaction was considered adequate on condition that arterial pressure increased no higher than the safe level, subsequent maintenance of hemodynamics was effective, toxin binding with plasma albumin was increased, diuresis increased, and hypernatriemia was transitory in the presence of general improvement of patient's status.

The authors carried out a scientific-research analysis of publication on the problem of medico-biological sequels of the Chernobyl Atomic Station. Systematization of 282 native and 45 foreign publications are presented as information models emphasizing the main trends of research, especially changes in the nervous system as well as in related systems of the body. Further detailed studies of the Chernobyl disaster sequels are important.

Nine men, aged 27-42 yrs, have been examined during a 370-day head-down tilt (HDT) experiment. The group A test subjects (4 persons) used the countermeasures involving exercises, pharmacological means to correct metabolism, bone tissue and digestive function. The group B test subjects (5 individuals) have embarked on exercising only in 120 days of bedrest.

Bioelectric activity of the heart was measured in 39 healthy men, aged 25 to 45 years, during their exposure to head-down tilt. The first experimental study which continued for 182 days (-4.5 degrees) was performed on 18 test subjects, and the second study which lasted for 120 days (-4.

This paper is the first summary of regular electrocardiographic examinations of 21 cosmonauts who made 42 space flights during the years 1964 through 1985. Electrocardiographic examinations were performed before, during and after flight. The most common ECG abnormality recorded was extrasystolic arrhythmia that occurred very frequently during provocative tests.

The diagnostic value of the atropine test was investigated in 47 essentially healthy men of different age groups (25-39, 40-49 and 50-59 years). The cardiovascular responses were evaluated from ECG recorded continuously for an hour after subcutaneous injection of 1.0-0.

Electrocardiographic parameters and serum concentrations of potassium, sodium, calcium (total and ionized) and magnesium in 6 essentially healthy men, aged 30-45 years, were measured before, during and after 120-day head-down tilt at -4.5 degrees. A close correlation was demonstrated between T-wave depression and serum concentrations of potassium (direct correlation) and calcium and magnesium (inverse correlation).

In response to simulated space flights cardiovascular and metabolic changes of 86 volunteers, aged 40-49 and 50-56, were similar to those of young people (25-39 years old). In most aged test subjects, the changes produced by 8-day head-down tilt (-8 degrees) and 7-day water immersion were moderate and reversible. This type of variation of the adaptive-compensatory reactions give evidence that aged people have sufficiently high functional capabilities.

A study of 82 cases with the prolapse of the mitral valve (PMV) and 169 of their first degree relatives has shown that PMV can be a symptom of a number of hereditary diseases, in the first place of the diseases of the connective tissue. Intrafamilial variations of cardiac changes have been recorded. It is established that the idiopathic PMV is aetiologically variable, which makes it difficult to evaluate the type of heredity of PMV as a whole.
