Purpose: Postoperative pain is an acute pain that begins with surgical trauma and decreases as the tissue heals. The transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block is one of the abdominal field blocks used in the treatment of acute postoperative pain after lower abdominal surgery. This study aims to investigate the effects of dexamethasone added to a local anesthetic solution on postoperative analgesia in ultrasonography-guided TAP block.

This study investigates the mortality-predictive performance of lactate, lactate clearance, and lactate-to-albumin ratio (LAR) on admission in patients with polytrauma in a tertiary center's intensive care unit (ICU). Polytrauma patients in the ICU between June 2019 and June 2022 were evaluated.

In addition, the disease has unique diagnostic challenges. Therefore, despite the existing guidelines on management, current clinical practice data is informative on the course and outcome.

Seventy-two lambs were divided into three groups consisting of 60th, 90th, and 120th of slaughter days. The dosage of the PG and slaughter days were the variables used in the study.

Inflammatory markers can predict the prognosis of TBI where neuroinflammation is essential. In this study, the prognostic value of the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII), neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and platelet-lymphocyte ratio (PLR) at admission in patients with critical TBI was investigated.

This study investigated the predictive value of preoperative prognostic nutritional index (PNI) on postoperative intensive care unit (ICU) requirement and mortality in geriatric hip fracture patients.
Methods: Geriatric (≥65 years old) hip fracture patients who underwent surgery between January 2021 and September 2023 were evaluated retrospectively.
The objectives of this study were to (1) compare peak expiratory flow (PEF), physical activity (PA), and core performance among normal-weight, overweight, and obese adolescents and (2) explore the relationships between PEF, physical activity, core performance, and anthropometric measurements across these groups. Ninety adolescents aged 10-13 yr were categorized based on BMI: normal weight (n = 30, 5th to < 85th percentile, BMI-Z score -2 to < 1), overweight (n = 30, 85th to < 95th percentile, BMI-Z score 1 to < 2), and obese (n = 30, > 95th percentile, BMI-Z score > 2). PEF and percent-predicted values of PEF (PEF% pred) values were calculated.

Glypican-6 (GPC6), a member of the membrane proteoglycan family, plays a significant role in cardiac remodeling. This study aims to determine if GPC6 can predict RV remodeling after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI).

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are non-coding, single-stranded RNAs that serve as one epigenetic mechanism. Though miRNAs have crucial roles in fetal programming, growth, and development, there is limited data regarding the maternal diet and miRNA expression in sheep.

Method: Nine hundred and ninety-one patients with thyroid nodules who had undergone thyroid fine-needle aspiration biopsy were included and classified according to the Bethesda system. Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (NLR) and systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) values obtained from hemogram parameters were determined for each patient.
Proton channels play a crucial role in many biological functions, as they are responsible for the selective transport of protons across cell membranes. Recently, Otopetrins, a family of eukaryotic proton-selective ion channels, have attracted significant attention due to their diverse physiological roles. Despite the importance of Otopetrins, their structural and functional properties remain relatively unexplored.

Methods: The cases diagnosed as brain death in the ICU during the ten years between January 2013 and September 2022 were evaluated retrospectively.
Background: Immobilization in the intensive care unit can lead to pressure injuries and plantar flexion contractures.
Aim: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of heel protectors applied for the prevention of heel pressure injuries and plantar flexion contractures in intensive care units.
Methods: This study was conducted as a randomized controlled trial in two adult intensive care units of a teaching and research hospital.
Objective: This retrospective observational study aimed to investigate the effect of different doses of sugammadex used in reversing neuromuscular blockade in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) procedures on patient recovery and hemodynamic measurements.
Methods: Anesthesia induction was performed using propofol (1 mg/kg) and rocuronium (0.4 mg/kg).
Rarely, endolymphatic hydrops may occur after spinal anesthesia due to the perforation of the dural membrane and a decrease in cerebrospinal fluid pressure. Consequently, auditory complications such as tinnitus and hearing loss may arise. Tinnitus can be accompanied by headache and hearing loss.

Within developed countries, the ability of sheep to survive on low-quality forage intake could act as buffer against climate change.
