The surface states of a 3D topological insulator (TI) exhibit topological protection against backscattering. However, the contribution of bulk electrons to the transport data is an impediment to the topological protection of surface states. We report the tuning of the chemical potential in the bulk in BiSeTe TI thin films, pinning it near the center of the bulk band gap, thereby suppressing the bulk carriers.

Fano resonance is observed in a wide range of micro- and nano-optical systems and has been a subject of intensive investigations due to its numerous potential applications. Methods that can control or modulate Fano resonance by tuning some experimentally accessible parameters are highly desirable for realistic applications. This study aimed to explore the bactericidal activity of a feather-degraded active peptide against multiple-antibiotic-resistant (MAR) Staphylococcus aureus.
