Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is the standard treatment of primary refractory or relapsed Hodgkin-lymphoma, which can provide a cure rate of about 50%. The aim of our study was to analyze the data of 126 HL patients undergoing AHSCT in Hungary between 01/01/2016 and 31/12/2020. We assessed the progression-free and overall survival, the prognostic role of PET/CT performed before transplantation and effect of brentuximab vedotin (BV) treatment on survival outcomes.

Previous observations indicated a profound alteration of the local vessel specialization in mice lacking Nkx2-3 homeodomain transcription factor, including contradictory results suggesting presence of an ectopic lymphatic vascular structure. Furthermore, how the absence of Nkx2-3 and the consequential changes in endothelial components affect the extramedullary hematopoietic activity restricted to the splenic red pulp is unknown.

Between 1st of January and May 31, 2020 due to the special regulations in Hungary, the number of reported COVID-19 infections were relatively low (3876 cases). The inpatient and outpatient care and the blood supply were significantly affected by the implemented regulations.

Methods: Pre-treatment [F]FDG PET/CT scans of 85 patients diagnosed with DLBCL were assessed. The scans were carried out in two clinical centers.
Unlabelled: Összefoglaló. Bevezetés: A COVID-19-világjárvány betegellátásra gyakorolt hatása hazánkban is jelentős. A vérellátást nehezítette a járványügyi intézkedések következményeként a véradási események elmaradása, a csökkent véradási hajlandóság, továbbá a nehezen megítélhető vérkészítményigény .

Glucose metabolism is reported to be altered in hematological malignancies thus, we hypothesized that monitoring intracellular O-GlcNAc levels in Rai stage 0-I (Binet A) CLL patients could give deeper insights regarding subtle metabolic changes of progression which are not completely detected by the routine follow-up procedures.
Objective: In this proof of concept study we established a flow cytometric detection method for the assessment of O-GlcNAcylation as a possible prognostic marker in CLL malignancy which was supported by fluorescence microscopy.
Background: Copanlisib, an intravenous pan-class I PI3K inhibitor, showed efficacy and safety as monotherapy in patients with relapsed or refractory indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma who had received at least two therapies. The CHRONOS-3 study aimed to assess the efficacy and safety of copanlisib plus rituximab in patients with relapsed indolent non-Hodgkin lymphoma.
Methods: CHRONOS-3 was a multicentre, double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 3 study in 186 academic medical centres across Asia, Australia, Europe, New Zealand, North America, Russia, South Africa, and South America.
Up to 30% of patients with classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) are not responsive to frontline therapy or relapse after primary treatment. In these cases, autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (AHSCT) is the standard of care. The combination of brentuximab vedotin and bendamustine (BV + B) is an effective salvage regimen in this challenging subpopulation.

We investigated the efficacy and safety of daratumumab therapy in a real-world setting. Ninety-nine Hungarian patients were included; 48 received monotherapy, while lenalidomide and bortezomib combinations were administered in 29 and 19 cases, respectively.

We analyzed the clinical characteristics and survival of 77 patients treated at 7 centers within this program. The majority of patients responded, we found complete response in 9, very good partial response in 8, partial response in 32, minor response or stable disease in 13 and progressive disease in 11 patients.

The use of brentuximab vedotin, an anti-CD30 antibody-drug conjugate, represents a promising approach for these patients, however clinical outcomes have not yet been evaluated in Hungary.
Aim: Our aim was to assess the efficacy, safety and outcome of brentuximab vedotin treatment in Hungarian Hodgkin lymphoma patients.
T-cell lymphoma is a poor prognostic hematological malignancy. The generally used - not sufficiently effective - induction chemotherapy should be improved with consolidative autologous hemopoetic stem cell transplantation. The authors describe the role, place and effectiveness of transplantation in this disorder.

Aim: ENKTL has distinctive geographic distribution with higher incidence in Asia and Latin America (10% of all non-Hodgkin lymphoma cases), than in Europe and North America (<1%). ENKTL tipically origins from nasopharynx and upper aerodigestive tract.
Some case reports and a Japanese series suggest benefit from the use of rituximab in patients with intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVL). Rituximab efficacy was evaluated in Western patients with IVL, comparing outcome of 10 patients treated with rituximab + chemotherapy (R-CT) and of 20 patients treated with chemotherapy alone (CT). There were no significant differences in patients' characteristics between the two subgroups.

While the predictive value of cytogenetical abnormalities, immunoglobulin heavy chain gene mutation status, CD38 and ZAP70 expression is already well known, the significance of multi-drug resistance in chronic lymphocytic leukemia is not well characterized.
Aims: The goal of this study was to characterize the multidrug resistance features in 82 patients with chronic lymphocytic leukemia at the genetical, expression- and functional level and to compare it with the patient's clinical behavior (survival and response to therapy).

Design And Methods: The clinical features of 50 Western patients with IVL were compared with those of 123 patients with IVL diagnosed in Eastern countries (87 diagnosed in Japan and 36 in other Asian countries), previously reported in English literature, and collected by an electronic bibliographic search.
Results: Hemophagocytosis was absent in Western patients, but reported in 38 (44%) Japanese patients (p=0.
Background: Chronic myelogenous leukemia is characterised by the presence of Philadelphia translocation and consecutive expression of bcr-abl oncogene with enhanced tyrosine kinase activity, which is known to be the essential pathogenetic event in the disease. Imatinib (Glivec, formerly STI571) is a highly selective inhibitor of the bcr-abl tyrosine kinase which has shown a promising therapeutic activity in chronic myeloid leukemia as the first molecularly targeted antinoplastic treatment.
Methods: Between January 2001 and October 2001, 54 patients with chronic phase CML, resistant or intolerant to interferon-alpha were enrolled into the Novartis Expanded Access Study (Protocol 0113).
Deep venous thrombosis in the young age may be a complication of the rare congenital abnormality of the vena cava inferior. Genetic factors predisposing to thrombophilia in coincidence with vena cava malformation put the patients at much higher risk to develop thrombosis. The authors report a case of a 25-year old male who suffered from a massive deep venous thrombosis derived from the vena poplitea involving the vena iliaca communis.

Aims: Sixteen frozen lymph node samples of CD30 positive lymphomas with anaplastic morphology and 1 bone marrow aspiration were analysed with polymerase chain reaction according to T-cell receptor gene and immunglobulin heavy chain gene rearrangement.
This report presents an experience of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis of T-cell receptor g- and bgene (TCR g, TCR b), and immunoglobulin heavy chain (IgH) gene rearrangements in 9 cases of primary systemic anaplastic large cell lymphoma. We showed 2 clonal IgH, 2 TCR g, 1 TCR b rearrangements. The genotype was B/T-cell in 1, T-cell in 1, B-cell in 1 and null cell-type in 6 cases.
