WHO global vaccine safety multi-country collaboration project on safety in pregnancy: Assessing the level of diagnostic certainty using standardized case definitions for perinatal and neonatal outcomes and maternal immunization.

Standardized case definitions strengthen post-marketing safety surveillance of new vaccines by improving generated data, interpretation and comparability across surveillance systems. The Global Alignment of Immunization Safety Assessment in Pregnancy (GAIA) project developed standardized case definitions for 21 key obstetric and neonatal terms following the Brighton Collaboration (BC) methodology. In this prospective cohort study, we assessed the applicability of GAIA definitions for maternal immunization exposure and for low birth weight (LBW), preterm birth, small for gestational age (SGA), stillbirth, neonatal death, neonatal infection, and congenital microcephaly.

The incidence of syphilis has risen worldwide in the last decade in spite of being an easily treated infection. The causative agent of this sexually transmitted disease is the bacterium Treponema pallidum subspecies pallidum (TPA), very closely related to subsp. pertenue (TPE) and endemicum (TEN), responsible for the human treponematoses yaws and bejel, respectively.

Background: Information on exact causes of death and stillbirth are limited in low and middle income countries. Minimally invasive tissue sampling (MITS) is increasingly practiced in place of autopsy across several settings. The mechanism of dsRNA uptake has been well studied and established across many living organisms including insects.

Identification of B cell epitopes of Per a 5 allergen using bioinformatic approach.

Background: Immune epitopes of allergens are pivotal for development of novel diagnostic and therapeutic modalities. Present study aims to identify antigenic determinants of Per a 5, a clinically relevant cross reactive cockroach allergen.

Methods: The three dimensional structure of Per a 5 was modelled using Modeller 9v11 software.

A Systematic Cytogenetic Strategy to Identify Masked Hypodiploidy in Precursor B Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in Low Resource Settings.

Hypodiploidy with < 40 chromosomes is associated with poor prognosis in B cell precursor acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In some patients, the hypodiploid clone undergoes endoreduplication, resulting in doubling of the number of chromosomes and masquerades as a high hyperdiploid BCP-ALL. Karyotyping reveals metaphases with 50-79 chromosomes masking the hypodiploid clone.

Novel Cell and Immune Engagers in Optimizing Tumor- Specific Immunity Post-Autologous Transplantation in Multiple Myeloma.

Autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is an important component of treatment of multiple myeloma (MM). The post-ASCT setting offers a unique opportunity to increase myeloma specific immunity through enhancement of T and NK cell responses. The vast array of therapeutics being developed for MM, including cell-based therapies, dendritic vaccines, bispecific antibodies, and IL-15 agonists, provide the opportunity to increase tumor-specific immunity.

PRAK-03202: A triple antigen virus-like particle vaccine candidate against SARS CoV-2.

The rapid development of safe and effective vaccines against severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS CoV-2) is a necessary response to coronavirus outbreak. Here, we developed PRAK-03202, the world's first triple antigen virus-like particle vaccine candidate, by cloning and transforming SARS-CoV-2 gene segments into a highly characterized -based D-Crypt™ platform, which induced SARS CoV-2 specific neutralizing antibodies in BALB/c mice. Immunization using three different doses of PRAK-03202 induced an antigen-specific (spike, envelope, and membrane proteins) humoral response and neutralizing potential.

It is of interest to compare the bonding characteristics of the two nano filled adhesives, Grandio (Voco, Cuxhaven, Germany) and Transbond Supreme LV (TSLV, 3M Unitek, Monrovia, California) with conventional bonding adhesive Transbond XT (TBXT, 3M Unitek) for bonding of molar tubes. 45 extracted human permanent molar teeth, divided into three groups of 15 each, were bonded with stainless steel molar tubes (3M Unitek, USA) using TBXT in Group 1, Grandio in Group 2, TSLV in Group 3. Remnant Index and shear bond strength was evaluated after 24 hrs.

Deciphering metabolic alterations in algae cultivated in spent media as means for enhancing algal biorefinery sustainability.

The recycling of unfiltered spent media during cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris was studied using metabolomics in an effort to enhance water and nutrient sustainability and reduce operating costs in algal biorefineries. Cultivation in spent media resulted in reduced biomass and lipid productivity by 14% and 19%, respectively, compared to fresh media. The decrease was related to a detected lower nutrient uptake.

The inherent metabolic versatility of Chlorella vulgaris that enables it to metabolize both inorganic and organic carbon under various trophic modes of cultivation makes it a promising candidate for industrial applications. To shed light on the metabolic flexibility of this microalga, time resolved proteomic and metabolomic studies were conducted in three distinct trophic modes (autotrophic, heterotrophic, mixotrophic) at two growth stages (end of linear growth at 6 days and during nutrient deprivation at 10 days).
