Objectives: To explore the timing of menarche, postmenarcheal growth, and to investigate the impact of various variables on menarcheal age and postmenarcheal and pubertal growth.

Study Design: This longitudinal community population-based study analyzed pubertal growth and menarcheal age in 793 healthy term-born Swedish girls, a subset of the GrowUpGothenburg cohort. The timing of menarche and postmenarcheal growth was related to variables from the Quadratic-Exponential-Pubertal-Stop (QEPS) growth model, birth characteristics, and parental height.

Aim: We will describe the use of nasolabial Burow's advancement flaps (perialar crescentic advancements) to repair multi subunit defects of the nasal sidewall including the adjacent cheek, dorsum, tip, and ala without the need of additional flaps.

Methods: This retrospective single centre study analyzed 6 month postoperative photographs using the Manchester Scar scale. The operative technique is described in detail.

Background: Individuals with paraplegia and coexisting trunk and postural control deficits rely on their upper extremities for function, which increases the risk of shoulder pain. A multifactorial etiology of shoulder pain includes "impingement" of the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, long head of the biceps tendons, and/or subacromial bursa resulting from anatomic abnormalities, intratendinous degeneration, and altered scapulothoracic kinematics and muscle activation. Targeting serratus anterior (SA) and lower trapezius (LT) activation during exercise, as part of a comprehensive plan, minimizes impingement risk by maintaining optimal shoulder alignment and kinematics during functional activities.

Importance: The prognosis for patients with metastatic pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is dismal, due in part to chemoresistance. Bacteria-mediated mechanisms of chemoresistance suggest a potential role for antibiotics in modulating response to chemotherapy.

Objective: To evaluate whether use of peritreatment antibiotics is associated with survival among patients with metastatic PDAC treated with first-line gemcitabine or fluorouracil chemotherapy.

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is an aggressive disease with high mortality, largely due to late stage at diagnosis. Approximately 10% to 15% are hereditary, and detection of early stage PDAC or precursor lesions through pancreatic surveillance programs may improve outcomes. Current surveillance is annual, typically with endoscopic ultrasound and/or magnetic resonance imaging.

Background: Safety-net clinics are an important source of low-cost or free mental healthcare to those with limited financial resources. Such clinics are often staffed by trainees in early stages of their career. Only limited data exist on best practices in treatment-implementation and on clinical outcomes attained in such clinics.

Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate survival in patients who received celiac plexus neurolysis (CPN) compared with patients who received opioids.

Methods: The Surveillance, Epidemiology and End Results-Medicare database was used to identify patients older than 65 years diagnosed with pancreatic cancer between 2007 and 2015. We used claims data to identify patients with a history of CPN and opioid use within 1 year of diagnosis, and other demographic, clinical, and treatment variables.

Pancreatic cancer (PC) is the fourth most common cause of cancer death in the United States. Previous studies have suggested a survival benefit for endoscopic ultrasound (EUS), an important tool for diagnosis and staging of PC. This study aims to describe EUS use over time and identify factors associated with EUS use and its impact on survival.

Purpose: Few studies have assessed the interaction between pain treatment and mortality in pancreatic cancer. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between receipt of opioid prescriptions and survival in adults with pancreatic cancer.

Methods: The SEER-Medicare linked database was used to identify patients diagnosed with late-stage pancreatic cancer between 2007 and 2015.

Background & Aims: Elevations in fasting blood glucose are observed prior to the development of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). Our aim was to describe glycemic and weight changes that occur prior to PDAC diagnosis in a diverse population.

Methods: We conducted a case-control study comparing patients with PDAC with matched controls between January 2011 and November 2019 at a tertiary care institution.

Rapid advances and decreased production costs in 3D printing (3DP) have resulted in its accelerated implementation in criminal activities. Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM (3DP and Polylactic Acid (PLA) filament were chosen for the current research because they are widely used in commodity 3DP, particularly in documented criminal activities. This study shows how specific features of 3DP along with classical toolmark comparison techniques using Stereo-Microscopy and Comparison Microscopy can be used to link between two 3DP objects as well as between a printed object and a suspected 3D printer.

Background/aims: : Bisphosphonates are increasingly recognized for their anti-neoplastic properties, which are the result of their action on the mevalonate pathway. Our primary aim was to investigate the association between bisphosphonate use and survival in patients with pancreatic cancer. Since statins also act on the mevalonate pathway, we also investigated the effect of the combined use of bisphosphonates and statins on survival.

Study Objectives: To study whether the onset of narcolepsy type 1 (NT1) in children and adolescents affects BMI, specific metabolic risk factors, the onset of puberty, longitudinal growth or other endocrine functions.

Methods: A population-based study, comprising 34 patients, was performed with a clinical evaluation, an assessment of puberty and growth, actigraphy and blood samples at fasting, from patients and controls, to evaluate pituitary function, growth factors, thyroid gland, gonads, insulin sensitivity, appetite regulation and blood lipids.

Results: In the post-H1N1 vaccination (PHV) narcolepsy group, the median BMI SDS was higher 6-12 months after the onset of narcolepsy (p < 0.

Undocumented immigrants have disproportionately suffered during the novel coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic due to factors including limited medical access and financial insecurity, which can exacerbate pandemic-associated distress. Psychological outcomes for immigrant outpatients were assessed after transition to telepsychiatry in March 2020. Mental health was assessed with Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-2) and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD-2) inventories, a novel coronavirus-specific survey, and the Kessler Psychological Distress Scale (K10+).

Aim: To update the Swedish references for weight, weight-for-height and body mass index (BMI) considering the secular trend for height but not including that for weight.

Methods: Longitudinal measures of height and weight were obtained (0-18 years) from 1418 (698 girls) healthy children from the GrowUp 1990 Gothenburg cohort born at term to non-smoking mothers and Nordic parents. A total of 145 individuals with extreme BMI value vs GrowUp 1974 BMI SDS reference were excluded (0-2 years: ±4SDS, 2 < years: -3SDS, +2.

Background: Emerging evidence demonstrates that surveillance of individuals at high-risk (HRIs) of developing pancreatic adenocarcinoma allows for identification and treatment of resectable tumors with improved survival. Population-based data suggest that hyperglycemia may be present up to three years before the development of pancreatic cancer. We investigated whether elevated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) is associated with the development of pancreatic cysts in a pancreatic surveillance program.

Data on the contribution of daytime sleepiness to cognitive impairment in elderly patients are presented. Currently, diagnostic methods of daytime sleepiness, which include diaries, neurological, clinical and instrumental tools, are used. It has been shown that daytime sleepiness correlates with different types of dementia that suggests the involvement of common neurochemical mechanisms.

After a car accident, it is an important forensic task to evaluate the status of the vehicle's lighting at the time of impact. In some cases, the bulb has to be opened up to allow proper examination of the high and low beam filaments. Quartz halogen pressurized bulbs are both rigid and brittle and their internal pressure makes them likelier to explode.
