The development of a breast phantom with realistic features that is simple and cheap to produce continues to be a challenge. Most commercial phantoms are expensive and unrealistic. This work proposes a breast phantom constructed with PMMA material and acrylic resin, considered as tissue-equivalent materials, to represent a breast of average density in a prototype mammography/tomosynthesis unit, and was designed to contain structures that represent mammary lesions such as microcalcifications, regular and irregular masses.

The positron emission tomography (PET)/computed tomography (CT) technique generates high doses in patients because two radiodiagnostic modalities are used in a single examination. In this study, the absorbed and effective doses generated by CT scans and by the incorporation of radiopharmaceutical solution were evaluated in 19 organs. It was found that 78.

Objective: The present study was aimed at evaluating the effective radiation dose in patients submitted to PET/CT for the diagnosis of mild cognitive impairment.

Materials And Methods: TLD-100 detectors inserted into an Alderson Rando® anthropomorphic phantom were utilized to measure the absorbed dose coming from the CT imaging modality. The anthropomorphic phantoms (male and female adult versions) were submitted to the same technical protocols for patients' images acquisition.
