Purpose: Bi-unicompartmental knee arthroplasty is a less invasive treatment than a total one, great advantage for the patient but more difficult for the surgeon because of the lower visibility during surgery; this can therefore lead to eventual small errors in cutting angles during the procedure. The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of these slight angle variations in terms of anterior-posterior slope for the lateral tibial tray.
Methods: The geometries of the bones were acquired and uncemented fixed bearing metal-back UKAs virtually implanted in a finite elements environment.
This case deals with the first diagnosis of Type B cystinuria with cystine nephrolithiasis in a 72-year-old male. Cystinuria is an inherited disease that consists of congenital abnormalities of renal and intestinal transport of dibasic amino acids. It often leads to frequent recurrent stone formation.

We also evaluated the results of contrast and vardenafil enhanced targeted biopsies compared to those of standard 12-core random biopsies to detect cancer.
Materials And Methods: Between May 2008 and January 2010, 150 consecutive patients with prostate specific antigen more than 4 ng/ml at first diagnosis with negative digital rectal examination and transrectal ultrasound, and no clinical history of prostatitis underwent contrast enhanced power Doppler ultrasound (bolus injection of 2.
Purpose: The aims of this study were to: (a) analyse the most frequent morphofunctional features of the lower urinary tract observed during videourodynamic examination in patients with neurogenic bladder due to multiple sclerosis; (b) investigate the role of the videourodynamic examination in the clinical management of these patients; and (c) demonstrate the relationship between morphological and functional variables.
Materials And Methods: We performed videourodynamic examinations in 75 patients affected by neurogenic bladder secondary to multiple sclerosis.
Results: The introduction of pharmacological therapy, based on clinical and functional evaluation of the lower urinary tract, is correlated with satisfactory morphofunctional outcomes, reducing moderate-to-severe postvoid residual (PVR; p < 0.
The aim of the study was to assess the safety and efficacy of CT-guided percutaneous radiofrequency (RF) ablation of osteoid osteoma (OO). From 1997 to 2001, RF ablation was performed on 38 patients with OO, diagnosed clinically and by radiography, scintigraphy, contrast-enhanced MRI, and CT. Treatment was performed via percutaneous (n=29) or surgical (n=9) access, under CT guidance in all cases, with an 18-gauge straight electrode.

Scintimammography using Tc 99m-Sestamibi was performed in 97 women with an isolated cluster of microcalcifications on mammograms. Seventy-two women had final histopathologic diagnoses (24 cancer and 48 benign pathology).

Liver abscess is a rare complication of Crohn disease. A case of multiple, bilateral, pyogenic liver abscesses appearing as a recurrent manifestation of Crohn disease in a 34-year-old man is reported. Conservative management with antibiotics, double-catheter drainage, and multiple aspirations was successful.

Subjects And Methods: Twenty-six patients, having neoplastic lesions (n = 9), calculi (n = 8), pelviureteric junction stenoses (n = 4), postoperative fibrotic strictures (n = 3), and extrinsic compressions of the ureter (n = 2), underwent unenhanced MR urography. Virtual endoscopy of the upper urinary tract was obtained using a thresholding technique and surface-rendering MR urography data sets.

The objective was to evaluate the feasibility, safety, and effectiveness of radiofrequency thermal ablation (RFT), performed during laparoscopy with a cooled-tip electrode needle, in the treatment of neoplastic hepatic focal lesions. Seven patients with hepatocarcinoma (10 hepatic lesions) were treated during laparoscopy with RFT using a 100-watt RF generator and 17-gauge, dual-lumen, cooled-tip electrode needles with a 3-cm exposed tip. The mean exposure time was 12 minutes for each needle insertion.

Galactography plays a major clinical role in identifying and localizing intraductal masses, but its sensitivity in detecting cancer is certainly suboptimal. Presently high-frequency ultrasound (US) probes allow detection and guided biopsy of intraductal lesions.

Eight-six patients (67 males and 19 females, age range 48-75 years, mean age 65.1 years) with Child-Pugh class A (n = 48) or B (n = 38) liver cirrhosis and a large HCC (main tumor 3.

These iatrogenic injuries may be represented by a pseudoaneurysm or by a periarterial hematoma with transmitted arterial pulsation: the 2 vascular injuries require prompt differentiation because pseudoaneurysms need treatment by means of US-guided compression or surgical repair. Nineteen patients (10 men and 9 women, aged 40-85 years, mean: 62 years) with a groin (no.

A series of 86 patients with biopsy-proved HCC were treated at our Institution January, 1991, to June, 1996. All patients had a single primary tumor bigger than 3 cm, occurring solitary or associated with no more than 2 daughter nodules.

Methods: Thirty-two consecutive patients with biopsy-proven HCC (26 men and six women, aged 41-72 years) underwent prospective evaluation with Lipiodol-CT before undergoing surgery (hepatic resection, 30 patients; liver transplantation, two patients). Imaging findings were correlated with intraoperative and pathologic findings.
The aim of our study was to compare the diagnostic efficacy of power Doppler imaging and conventional color Doppler sonography for differentiating between hepatocellular adenoma (HCA) and focal nodular hyperplasia (FNH) of the liver. Thirty-one focal liver lesions (in 29 patients) with histologic proof of HCA (n = 9) or FNH (n = 22) were studied with power and color Doppler sonography according to a standardized examination protocol. The size of the lesions ranged between 1.

A total of 184 cirrhotic patients with HCC underwent PEI as the only anticancer treatment over an 8-year period. Patients were followed after therapy by means of clinical examinations, laboratory tests, and US and CT studies performed at regular time intervals.

We examined 334 legs in 167 consecutive patients with advanced peripheral ischemic disease using color Doppler sonography and angiography. Angiography revealed 714 lesions (369 nonsignificant stenoses, 297 significant stenoses, and 48 occlusions) in the 334 legs examined. Overall, color Doppler sonography revealed diagnostic agreement with angiography in 668 of 714 lesions (93.
