There is a long tradition in the study of these interactions, their mechanisms and their consequences using experimental, observational and theoretical approaches. Acute abdominal pathologies can cause electrocardiogram (ECG) changes mimicking an acute coronary syndrome (ACS), resulting in diagnostic uncertainty and delay. We report a 65-year-old male with multiple risk factors for ACS who presented with four hours of progressive epigastric and chest pain that resolved in the emergency department. ECG findings were concerning for new deeply inverted T-waves with normal troponins, raising concerns for Wellens Syndrome.

Despite their potential relevance for understanding the effects of plasticity on ecological communities, these effects have seldom been analysed. We argue here that, by boosting the magnitude of intra-individual phenotypic variation, plasticity may have three possible direct effects on the interactions that the plastic species maintains with other species in the community: may expand the interaction niche, may cause a shift from one interaction niche to another or may even cause the colonization of a new niche.

Methods: Twelve apparently healthy and active young adults were enrolled in a randomized crossover study (HICE HIIE). The 12 HICE exercises used a 30:5 second exercise to rest ratio, followed by a 3-minute cool-down and was replicated in the HIIE cycle protocol.
