Realist review as a methodology for using evidence in health policies: an integrative review.

Objective: To identify and analyze the concepts of realist review and the recommended methodology for its development in the health area.

Method: An integrative review which sought theoretical-methodological qualitative or quantitative studies through 11 data sources which analyzed or proposed theories and/or realist review methodology.

Results: Twenty-three (23) studies, mainly published in the United Kingdom, were included.
