Complete hydatidiform mole (CHM) is a rare type of pregnancy, in which 15 to 20% of the cases may develop into gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN). The diagnostic of GTN must be done as early as possible through weekly surveillance of serum hCG after uterine evacuation. We report the case of 23-year-old primigravida, with CHM but without surveillance of hCG after uterine evacuation.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study explores the link between antinuclear antibodies (ANA) and recurrent miscarriage (RM), aiming to determine if ANA presence increases the risk of spontaneous abortion in affected patients.
  • - A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted using data from PubMed/Medline and SCOPUS, analyzing seven case-control studies and finding a significantly higher frequency of positive ANA in the RM group compared to controls.
  • - The results indicated that positive ANA may elevate the risk of RM, but the research could not specify which ANA immunofluorescence patterns are most prevalent in the RM group.

Despite several studies showed that the Tityus serrulatus scorpion venom (Tsv) induces an inflammatory response, just a few have investigated the effect of the venom on the immune response. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate alterations of venom application on lymphoid organs and on the recruitment and activation of cells and also on the cytokine production. Swiss male mice (2-3 months, 20-25 g) received a non-lethal dose of crude Tsv (200 μg/kg), diluted in sterile PBS by subcutaneous route.
