Retest effects in a diverse sample: sociodemographic predictors and possible correction approaches.

Unlabelled: Repeated cognitive assessment in longitudinal studies favors the occurrence of retest effects, usually increasing the scores obtained at the follow-up assessments when compared to baseline. Therefore, retest effects can compromise the evaluation of cognitive decline in older adults.

Objectives: We aimed to verify the occurrence of the retest effect and the impact of sociodemographic characteristics on the follow-up scores in a sample of 5,592 participants with a diverse sociodemographic profile, who were assessed twice during 4 years of follow-up.

Job strain and binge eating among Brazilian workers participating in the ELSA-Brasil study: does BMI matter?

Objective: To assess the association between job strain and binge eating as well as the effect-modifying influence of body mass index (BMI) on this association.

Methods: A total of 11,951 active civil servants from the multicenter Brazilian Longitudinal Study of Adult Health (ELSA-Brasil) was included in this cross-sectional analysis. Job strain was assessed using the Demand-Control-Support Questionnaire.

[Interobserver reliability of the international classification of primary care at a primary health care unit].

We evaluated the International Classification of Primary Care interobserver reliability for coding the complaints reported at a primary public health unit. The study sample consisted of 300 appointments. Reasons for appointment were registered by physicians on the medical record and coding was performed by two investigators.

[Brazilian live birth information system: a review study].

The aim of this study was to perform a systematic review of the use of the Live Birth Information System (Sistema de Informações de Nascidos Vivos--SINASC) in health research. MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO databases were searched from 1994 to 2005 using the following combination of descriptors: "SINASC", "live birth", "Brazil". We identified 157 abstracts within the reference period, among which 44 were selected and classified according to specific criteria.
