Arsenic (As) contamination is continuously increasing in the groundwaters and soils around the world causing toxicity in the plants with a detrimental effect on physiology, growth, and yield. In a hydroponic system, thirty-day-old plants of Trigonella foenum-graecum were subjected to 0, 50, or 100 µM NaHAsO0.7 HO for 10 days.

Forty-day-old (var. Pusa Jai Kisan) plants were exposed to arsenic (As, 250 µM NaHAsO·7HO) stress. The ameliorative role of ferrous sulfate (2 mM, FeSO·7HO, herein FeSO) was evaluated at 7 days after treatment (7 DAT) and 14 DAT.

Effect of triacontanol on drought-induced stress was studied in Brassica juncea L. Foliage of sixteen-days-old plants was sprayed with concentrations (0, 10, 20 and 30 μM) of triacontanol (TRIA) for 7 days. Subsequently, plants were subjected to drought stress (10% polyethylene glycol, PEG6000) for 7 days.

Background: Lead (Pb) and mercury (Hg) are persistent hazardous metals in industrially polluted soils which can be toxic in low quantities. Metal toxicity can cause changes at cellular and molecular level which should be studied for better understanding of tolerance mechanism in plants. Soybean (Glycine max L.

Isolation of high-quality RNA from weed plants such as is a difficult task due to the hindrance caused by numerous secondary metabolites. Such metabolites not only affect the quality and yield of RNA, but also limit the quality of downstream applications. Therefore, the present study was undertaken to design a protocol for yielding RNA with better quality and quantity from leaf which could be suitable for functional genomics.

Background: This study evaluated the efficacy and safety of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding (LAGB) in a large cohort of morbidly obese patients followed for up to 5 years.

Methods: Morbidly obese patients, ≥ 16 years of age, who underwent LAGB surgery at the Surgical Weight Loss Clinic in Ontario, Canada, between May 2005 and January 2011 were eligible for this retrospective chart review. Electronic files were searched to identify all patients who met the inclusion/exclusion criteria.
