Optically responsive materials are applied in sensing, actuators, and optical devices. One such class of material is dye-doped liquid crystal polymers that self-assemble into cholesteric mesophases that reflect visible light. We report here the synthesis and characterization of a family of linear and mildly crosslinked terpolymers prepared by the ROMP of norbornene-based monomers.

Molecularly imprinted polymer-based biosensor for detection of salivary glucose in diabetes.

Diabetes is a disorder attributed to impaired production or utilization of insulin and requires rapid precise monitoring of glucose levels. The fabrication of nanotechnology-based non-invasive biosensors for glucose detection holds significant promise for improved diabetes care and point-of-care diagnostics. The study demonstrates a novel molecularly imprinted polymers (ADMIPs) based sensitive biosensor for glucose estimation in saliva using three distinct sensing platforms -cotton swab, paper strip and polymeric film by colorimetric assay.

Scaling and networking a modular photonic quantum computer.

Photonics offers a promising platform for quantum computing, owing to the availability of chip integration for mass-manufacturable modules, fibre optics for networking and room-temperature operation of most components. However, experimental demonstrations are needed of complete integrated systems comprising all basic functionalities for universal and fault-tolerant operation. Here we construct a (sub-performant) scale model of a quantum computer using 35 photonic chips to demonstrate its functionality and feasibility.

Methods: Children were enrolled through online sessions on childhood obesity for students, parents and teachers at five private schools in Delhi, and requesting parents who perceived their children as having obesity to contact the study team. Eligibility was confirmed through home visit by a technician.

Unhealthy eating, a risk factor for eating disorders (EDs) and obesity, often coexists with emotional and behavioral problems; however, the underlying neurobiological mechanisms are poorly understood. Analyzing data from the longitudinal IMAGEN adolescent cohort, we investigated associations between eating behaviors, genetic predispositions for high body mass index (BMI) using polygenic scores (PGSs), and trajectories (ages 14-23 years) of ED-related psychopathology and brain maturation. Clustering analyses at age 23 years ( = 996) identified 3 eating groups: restrictive, emotional/uncontrolled and healthy eaters.
