Article Synopsis
  • Patients with high-grade endometrial carcinoma (EC) have a higher likelihood of tumor spread and lymph node metastasis (LNM), with preoperative imaging and CA125 levels aiding in their assessment.
  • A study involving 333 high-grade EC patients found that elevated CA125 levels significantly correlated with advanced disease stages and poorer survival outcomes.
  • Logistic regression analysis indicated that elevated CA125, non-endometrioid histology, deep myometrial invasion, and cervical involvement are strong predictors of LNM, while CT findings alone were less predictive.

The aim was to investigate the incidence of sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastases and the contribution of SLN mapping in presumed low- and intermediate-risk endometrial cancer (EC). A multicenter, prospective cohort study in presumed low- and intermediate-risk EC patients was performed. Patients underwent SLN mapping using cervical injections of indocyanine green and a minimally invasive hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy.

Background And Objectives: Robot-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy is a safe and feasible approach in patients with higher body mass index (BMI). Slightly longer operating time in patients with high BMI did not result in higher complication or conversion rates. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether robot-assisted total laparoscopic hysterectomy is a feasible and safe surgical approach in different classes of obesity.

Background: Laparoscopic hysterectomy is accepted worldwide as the standard treatment option for early-stage endometrial cancer. However, there are limited data on long-term survival, particularly when no lymphadenectomy is performed. We compared the survival outcomes of total laparoscopic hysterectomy (TLH) and total abdominal hysterectomy (TAH), both without lymphadenectomy, for early-stage endometrial cancer up to 5 years postoperatively.

Objective: Uterine serous carcinoma (USC) is presumed to arise from endometrial intra-epithelial carcinoma (EIC), whereas tubo-ovarian high-grade serous carcinomas have similar precursor lesions in the Fallopian tube, i.e. serous tubal intra-epithelial carcinoma (STIC).

Objective: Sentinel lymph node (SLN) mapping in endometrial cancer is gaining ground. However, patient views on this new technique are unknown. The aim of this study was to determine factors important to patients and gynecologists when considering SLN mapping in low- and intermediate-risk endometrial cancer.
