The presence of inherent electronic unsaturation in aluminum predominantly results in the formation of aluminum clusters, with very few examples of compounds containing discrete chains of aluminum atoms in existence. In this work, we present the successful synthesis and structural authentication of a highly unusual trialane species with a near-linear chain of three Al atoms, alongside a carbene-stabilized aluminyl anion ([LAlR]), an alternative product produced by varying the reaction conditions. Quantum-chemical calculations have been applied to elucidate the electronic structure and bonding of these novel compounds.

The global demand for lithium has soared in recent years due to the wide use of lithium batteries. To meet this demand, we herein report developing novel on-site sample preparation methods for the extraction of Li from relevant materials, including brine water, spodumene rock, as well as lithium-ion battery electrodes, and a DNAzyme-based fluorescent sensor for sensitive and robust detection of Li in these samples down to 1.4 mM (10 ppm) using a portable fluorometer.

Newer multi-kinase inhibitors (MKI) like sunitinib have changed the therapy of patients of renal cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, and gastrointestinal stromal tumor. The use of sunitinib also led to cutaneous toxicity, known as hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR). We report a case of hand-foot skin reaction (HFSR) in an Indian patient being treated with sunitinib.

In recent years, the need for a low-cost emergency ventilation system has increased unprecedentedly. Mechanical ventilation systems are widely used to cater to sudden oxygen demands, low breathing rates, and critical conditions during bradycardia and tachycardia. In this research, a new design of mechanical ventilation system synced with the tidal volume requirements of the patient using a piezoelectric belt has been proposed.
