Renewable energy consumption is a crucial solution to addressing pressing environmental issues, particularly climate change and air pollution. Investigating the factors that drive its adoption is highly significant, as it provides policymakers and stakeholders with valuable insights to accelerate the transition to renewable energy sources. Through this approach, we can minimise the negative consequences of our reliance on fossil fuels, thereby protecting the integrity of the environment.

A Case Series of Spinal Infections Following COVID-19: A Delayed Complication.

Spinal infection in the form of tuberculous vertebral osteomyelitis or pyogenic spondylodiscitis is a commonly associated state of an immunodeficient host from various pathologies. For example, secondary infections can be seen following coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We report three cases of different forms of spinal infections that occurred as delayed complications to recent COVID-19 infection.

Methods: The BreCaReAl study, a non-interventional prospective cohort study, included adult women with confirmed BC in Algeria.

Association between long-term exposure to ambient air pollution and prevalence of diabetes mellitus among Malaysian adults.

Background: Malaysia has the highest rate of diabetes mellitus (DM) in the Southeast Asian region, and has ongoing air pollution and periodic haze exposure.

Methods: Diabetes data were derived from the Malaysian National Health and Morbidity Surveys conducted in 2006, 2011 and 2015. The air pollution data (NO, NO, SO, O and PM) were obtained from the Department of Environment Malaysia.

CO-assisted phosphorus extraction from poultry litter and selective recovery of struvite and potassium struvite.

Phosphorus recovery from industrialized poultry operations is necessary to ensure sustainable waste management and resource consumption. To realize these goals, an innovative, two-stage process chemistry has been developed to extract nutrients from poultry litter and recover value-added products. Over 75% phosphorus extraction was achieved by bubbling carbon dioxide into poultry litter slurries and adding strong acid to reach pH 4.

Prevalence and isotype distribution of antiphospholipid antibodies in Chilean patients with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).

Previous studies have demonstrated that ethnicity plays a role in the prevalence, isotype distribution, and clinical significance of anticardiolipin (aCL) and anti-beta2 glycoprotein I (abeta2-GPI) antibodies in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients. Few studies have been done in Latin American populations. Serum samples from 129 Chilean SLE patients were tested for IgG, IgM and IgA aCL and abeta2-GPI by ELISA.

[Cryoglobulins in rheumatoid arthritis: exhaustive detection, immunochemical findings and clinical expression].

Cryoglobulins were measured in 29 patients (24 female, age 53.8 +/- 9.8 years) with rheumatoid arthritis (70% active).

[Erythema chronicum migrans and Lyme's disease].

A 66 year old woman with a history suggesting a tick bite on the right arm developed a slowly expanding erythematosus lesion. Similar lesions appeared on the trunk and extremities in the following months. A skin biopsy showing spiral shaped agents and the clinical findings were compatible with erythema chronicum migrans.

Transient osteoporosis of the hip.

Osteoporosis in a painful hip is usually a sign of inflammation or tumor. There exists, however, a self-limited clinical entity that presents with pain in the hip and where the only roentgenological manifestation is osteoporosis. Eight patients with this disease are described: five men and three women, ranging in age from 29 to 50 years.
