The Brownstripe Snapper, (Quoy and Gaimard, 1824) is a commercially important snapper extensively caught in Malaysia. We examined genetic diversity, population connectivity, and historical demographics of the , off the eastern coast of peninsular Malaysia based on an 817 bp region of the mtDNA control region sequences. Maximum likelihood gene trees demonstrated that the populations under study had limited structuring and formed a single panmictic population that lacks support for internal clades.

A Rare Manifestation of Cutaneous Metastasis from Laryngeal Carcinoma.

Cutaneous metastasis from laryngeal carcinoma is an uncommon occurrence. We reported a man with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma developed cutaneous metastasis on his neck and anterior chest wall after undergoing treatment. Thus, new skin lesions in laryngeal cancer patients may indicate cutaneous metastasis and it signifies poor prognosis.

Opportunity for genome engineering to enhance phosphate homeostasis in crops.

Plants maintain cellular homeostasis of phosphate (Pi) through an integrated response pathway regulated by different families of transcription factors including MYB, WRKY, BHLH, and ZFP. The systemic response to Pi limitation showed the critical role played by inositol pyrophosphate (PP-InsPs) as signaling molecule and SPX (SYG1/PHO81/XPR1) domain proteins as sensor of cellular Pi status. Binding of SPX to PP-InsPs regulates the transcriptional activity of the MYB-CC proteins, phosphate starvation response factors (PHR/PHL) as the central regulator of Pi-deficiency response in plants.

Ocular Adnexal Manifestations of Sporotrichosis: A Report of Two Cases.

Sporotrichosis is a subcutaneous mycotic infection, caused by the dimorphic fungi . Ocular sporotrichosis has both intraocular and adnexal forms. We describe two cases of sporotrichosis involving the conjunctiva of two healthy individuals after inoculation by their pet cats, with complete resolution of lesions after antifungal treatment.

The potential of carbonic anhydrase enzymes as a novel target for anti-cancer treatment.

Carbonic anhydrase (CA) is a zinc-dependent metal enzyme that maintains the pH and carbon dioxide (CO) homeostasis in cells by catalyzing the reversible hydration and dehydration of CO and bicarbonate (HCO). In mammals, there are 16 isozymes of CA existed, namely CAI to CAXIV, but only 15 isozymes are found in humans except CAXV. The CellProfiler pipeline analysis of cell migration.

We demonstrate herein a refined method to evaluate the migration capacity of monolayer cells using the CellProfiler pipeline. Comparison of rainwater quality before and during the MCO using chemometric analyses.

This study aimed to classify the spatiotemporal analysis of rainwater quality before and during the Movement Control Order (MCO) implementation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Chemometric analysis was carried out on rainwater samples collected from 24-gauge stations throughout Malaysia to determine the samples' chemical content, pH, and conductivity. Other than that, hierarchical agglomerative cluster analysis (HACA) and discriminant analysis (DA) were used to classify the quality of rainwater at each location into four clusters, namely good, satisfactory, moderate, and bad clusters.

This study was designed to characterise the cultured and wild populations of in Malaysia using morphological parameters. Fish samples from the East and West coast of the country were obtained from fishermen (wild samples) and well-recognised climbing perch farmers in Kedah, Kelantan, Johor and Selangor. The Truss network method was applied to obtain necessary data and analysed to examine phenotypic variation between the cultured and wild stocks.

RUNX1 as a Novel Molecular Target for Breast Cancer.

RUNX1 has long known for its role in hematopoiesis until recently it is implicated in human breast cancer pathogenesis. This has drawn attention in research as elevated expression of RUNX1 has been observed in invasive breast cancer, and mutations of the RUNX1 gene and its binding partner CBFβ have been identified in luminal breast cancer patients, many of which have attributed to the development and progression of the disease. This study explored the factors influencing students' willingness to continue with the online learning system during the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic by adopting the stimulus-organism-response (SOR) theory. This study also incorporated e-learning readiness, performance, and satisfaction as mediators. The present study employed the purposive sampling method, whereby 2215 data of undergraduate students from a public university were gathered using an online survey and analysed using structural equation modelling (SEM) with Smart Partial Least Squares (SmartPLS).

Pooled data from adult Malaysian patients who had undergone genetic testing for SCA 1,2,3,6 and 7 at UKM Medical Centre and Institute for Medical Research from 2017 to 2020 were analysed.

We report a unique and rare presentation of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in a child who presented with frontal swelling involving bilateral upper lids. A previously healthy one-year-old girl presented with progressively increasing frontal swelling of seven months duration.

Glial Heterotopia of the Base of Tongue: A Case Report.

Glial heterotopia of oropharynx is a congenital anomaly, whereby ectopic mature glial tissue is found around oropharynx isolated from the brain and spinal cord. Herein we report a rare presentation of a mass at the base of tongue in a neonate. In addition, to underscore the rarity of oropharygeal glial heterotopia, we discuss the dilemma in approaching its diagnosis and management in a neonate.
