Background: The purpose of this study is to determine the significance of markers such as C-reactive protein, procalcitonin, complete blood count parameters, delta neutrophil index, ischemia-modified albumin, presepsin, and oxidative stress indicators, which are associated with inflammation, oxidative stress, and ischemia in the pathology and diagnosis of acute cholecystitis in adults.

Methods: Patients diagnosed with acute cholecystitis in the emergency department and healthy individuals in the control group were included in the study. Routine blood count and biochemistry analyses were performed on the participants.

Aim: The aim of this study was to determine whether the addition of the lactate level to the SOFA score (SOFA-Laktat) and qSOFA Score (qSOFA-Laktat) improves the performance of the SOFA score and qSOFA score alone in predicting the hospital mortality of critically ill older patients.

Material And Method: A total of 799 patients over 65 years of age admitted to Emergency Department and hospitalized to intensive care unit (ICU) of our hospital between May 1, 2016, and April 30, 2017, were included in this study. The parameters gender, age, initial complaint, duration of time between the start of their complaint and emergency admission, comorbidities, SOFA scores, qSOFA scores, arterial lactate (AL) values and reason for acute admission, which intensive care unit admitted to, length of stay and patients outcomes (discharge, exitus) were recorded.

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a metabolic and endocrine disorder which affects women of reproductive age with prevalence of 8-18%. The oocyte within the follicle is surrounded by cumulus cells (CCs), which connect with mural granulosa cells (MGCs) that are responsible for secreting steroid hormones. The main aim of this study is comparing gene expression profiles of MGCs and CCs in PCOS and control samples to identify PCOS-specific differentially expressed genes (DEGs).
