Dravet syndrome is currently considered as an developmental and epileptic encephalopathy and, recently, mandatory, alert, and exclusionary criteria have been proposed. Here, we describe three patients with Dravet syndrome with the typical early presentation including febrile and afebrile alternating hemiclonic seizures due to loss-of-function SCN1A variants. Subsequently, they developed episodes of febrile focal status epilepticus (SE) associated with hemiparesis and cerebral hemiatrophy with posterior focal seizures, as a consequence of Dravet syndrome.

In this context, since 2009, some strains resistant to LNZ in patients with long-term treatments have been reported. Therefore, there is a need to use not only new drug molecules with antibacterial activities in the dosage form but also a different approach to pharmacotherapeutic strategies for skin infections, which lead to a reduction in the concentration of biocides.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTwo fluorinated γ-AlO series were synthesized by a sol-gel method with two solvents (2-propanol and 2-butanol), two aluminium sources (ATB and ATP) and one fluorine source (NaAlF). The resulting inorganic matrixes were evaluated to characterize aluminium and fluorine species ([AlO], [AlO], [AlO], [AlF], [AlF] and [AlF]) by powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Al magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance (Al MAS-NMR) and infrared spectroscopy (IR-ATR). BET and BJH analyses using the nitrogen isotherms of these materials allowed identifying a clear trend in some textural parameters such as specific surface area and fluorine content.

Quinolinate Al(CHNO) units were added during the synthesis, leading to composite quinolinate hydrotalcite-like compounds. The amount of quinolinate was varied, showing that the number of organic building blocks determines the physicochemical properties of materials, which differ significantly from those commonly reported for hydrotalcites without any quinolinate.

The synthesis of hybrid pigments was made from combination of γ-AlO and some organic chromophores such as carminic acid, alizarin, purpurin, curcumin, fluorescein and betacyanins. The γ-AlO was obtained through sol-gel synthesis with 2-propanol and aluminium tri-sec-butoxide (ATB). This article presents some spectroscopic evidences related to the formation of aluminium complexes between coordinative unsaturated sites (CUS) of aluminium and some organic groups (carboxylic acid, quaternary ammonium and β-keto enol) present in the chromophores structure.

Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi bacteria are two common pollutants and they are developing resistance to some of the most used bactericide. Therefore new biocide materials are being tested.

Prolactin (PRL) has been characterized as an immunomodulator, particularly during stress. In this study, we have asked whether separate administration of the 2 major forms of prolactin, unmodified and phosphorylated, to groups of 15 mice (3 experiments, each with 5 mice per treatment group) affected the number and morphology of these epidermal immune cells under control conditions, and following UV-irradiation.
