Introduction Traditionally, physical therapist (PT) services do not commence until an injury, fall, or health issue has already occurred although there is increasing evidence that preventative programs administered by PTs may decrease the fall risk among elderly individuals. The purpose of this study was to examine billing, reimbursement, and administrative outcomes of the previously established and investigated prevention-based screening and intervention HOP-UP-PT (Home-based Older Persons Upstreaming Prevention-Physical Therapy) program delivered by a physical therapist in the home of older adults after being referred by a community partner. A randomized controlled trial of the HOP-UP-PT program demonstrated an 8-fold reduction in falls for participants at moderate and high fall risk compared to those who did not participate in the program.

The role of the Maillard reaction and the accumulation of non-enzymatic glycation compounds in human milk have been scarcely considered. In this study, we investigated the proteins most susceptible to glycation, the identity of the corresponding modified residues and the quantitative relationship between protein-bound and free glycation compounds in raw human milk and, for comparison, in minimally processed infant formula and pasteurized bovine milk. In human milk, total protein-bound lysine modifications were up to 10% of the counterparts in infant formula, while Nε-carboxymethyllysine reached up to 27% of the concentration in the other two products.

Despite the implementation of personalized medicine, patients with metastatic CRC (mCRC) still have a dismal overall survival due to the frequent occurrence of acquired resistance mechanisms thereby leading to clinical relapse. Understanding molecular mechanisms that support acquired resistance to anti-EGFR targeted therapy in mCRC is therefore clinically relevant and key to improving patient outcomes. Here, we observe distinct metabolic changes between cetuximab-resistant CRC cell populations, with in particular an increased glycolytic activity in KRAS-mutant cetuximab-resistant CRC cells (LIM1215 and OXCO2) but not in KRAS-amplified resistant DiFi cells.

HER2 amplification occurs in approximately 5% of colorectal cancer (CRC) cases and is associated only partially with clinical response to combined human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2)/epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR)-targeted treatment. An alternative approach based on adoptive cell therapy using T cells engineered with anti-HER2 chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) proved to be toxic due to on-target/off-tumor activity.
