Pediatric trauma represents a significant source of morbidity and mortality in children, encompassing a broad spectrum of injuries. Despite advancements in the treatment and prevention of injuries, the risk of trauma in children remains a persistent concern. Severe trauma cases often necessitate admission to a pediatric intensive care unit (PICU).

Can we predict risk for cardiac involvement in paediatric inflammatory multi-system syndrome?

Introduction: Increasing recognition of paediatric inflammatory multi-system syndrome is a cause of concern. This study aimed to evaluate children with paediatric inflammatory multi-system syndrome and compare the clinical and laboratory features of children with and without cardiac involvement.

Material And Methods: We conducted a prospective single-centre study including 57 (male 37, 65%) patients with paediatric inflammatory multi-system syndrome at a tertiary care hospital between November, 2020 and March, 2021.

Waist to height ratio as a screening tool for identifying childhood obesity and associated factors.

Objectives: To analyze the course of seasonal viral infections of respiratory tract in patients hospitalized in pediatric intensive care units (PICU) of 16 centers in Turkey.

Materials And Methods: It is a retrospective, observational, and multicenter study conducted in 16 tertiary PICUs in Turkey includes a total of 302 children with viral cause in the nasal swab which required PICU admission with no interventions.

Autoimmune polyglandular syndrome (APS) is a disorder which is associated with multiple endocrine gland insufficiency and also with non-endocrine manifestations. The pathophysiology of APS is poorly understood, but the hallmark evidence of APS is development of autoantibodies against multiple endocrine and non-endocrine organs. These autoantibodies are responsible for the dysfunction of the affected organs and sometimes may also cause non-endocrine organ dysfunction.
