We report a novel and simple approach for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles capped with inositol (Ag NPs/Ino) by the reduction of silver salt with ascorbic acid under basic conditions. UV-vis, TEM, FTIR and TGA techniques were used to characterize the Ag NPs/Ino to determine the size, shape and surface modification of the NPs. Stable silver nano-ink was prepared in aqueous solution containing 1% PVP (stabilizer) and glycerol (cosolvent) and was used for the direct-writing of a paper electrode with a roller ball-point pen for electrochemical applications.

A novel stereoselective removal behavior of isomeric endrin and dieldrin pesticides from sample solution is demonstrated using nanocomposite of graphene oxide (GO) and iron oxide (FeO) magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs). The removal efficiency of endrin and dieldrin was found higher when GO-MNPs was used as a separating probe than the individual use of GO and MNPs. The removal efficiency of both the pesticides was found to be more favorable when the dosage amount of GO-MNPs was 30 mg for 30-min contact time with pH 4.

A simple, low cost and user-friendly method for the fabrication of paper electrode (PE) using silver nanoparticles capped with octylamine (AgNPs-OA) is reported for detection of hydrogen peroxide (HO) in wastewater samples. The PE was prepared by direct writing onto the photo paper using a ball-point pen filled with nanoink (10 wt % of AgNPs-OA in chloroform). The prepared electrode was sintered at 100 °C for 1 h to make it conductive.
