Combining ion-imprinting technology with pH-dependent adsorptive features of acid- or salt-activated zeolites brings up the opportunity to develop composite polymer materials with 'desired' sorption properties and performances. In this respect, we present here Co-imprinted composite cryo-beads with switching on/off selectivity towards the template ions, engineered by selecting the appropriate zeolite-treatment conditions and/or controlling the initial sorption pH values. This work involves the study of the influence of textural and chemical adsorbent properties on natural organic matter (NOM) removal and the simultaneous adsorption of caffeine and NOM in pharmaceutical wastewater. Purpose: There are some circumstances in which the descending colon does not reach the pelvis to complete a colorectal anastomosis without tension. Re-establishing intestinal continuity by interposing small bowel as a bridge between the colon and the rectum could be an acceptable surgical alternative.

A 7 day in situ assay to assess sediment toxicity was carried out per replicate in two sites from Guadalete Estuary (Guad1 and Guad2) (South-West, Spain) using the polychaete Arenicola marina (n = 20) in benthic cages. After the exposure period, a battery of biomarkers were determined to asses the sediment toxicity.
