Background: Despite the availability and benefits of the Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccine, parental acceptance remains low in the eastern mediterranean region (EMR). Therefore, this meta-analysis aimed to estimate the pooled proportion of parental uptake and willingness to vaccinate their children with the HPV vaccine and their determinants in the EMR.

Methods: We searched PubMed Central, PubMed Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, ProQuest, Google Scholar, and medRxiv according to PRISMA guidelines until the 5th of April 2024.

Objective: Kienböck disease is a rare condition characterized by severe pain and restricted wrist movement. Various palliative methods have been proposed as therapeutic strategies for alleviating symptoms. Mesenchymal stromal cell transplantation has been suggested as an innovative and promising approach due to its potential for inducing regeneration and immunomodulation in the necrotic tissue.

Greater male variability in daily energy expenditure develops through puberty.

There is considerably greater variation in metabolic rates between men than between women, in terms of basal, activity and total (daily) energy expenditure (EE). One possible explanation is that EE is associated with male sexual characteristics (which are known to vary more than other traits) such as musculature and athletic capacity. Such traits might be predicted to be most prominent during periods of adolescence and young adulthood, when sexual behaviour develops and peaks.

Introduction: The use of cisplatin in clinical practice in the management of head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) is limited by its toxicity and acquired resistance, which makes the decision-making process of its prescription multifactorial.

Methods: An Egyptian expert panel (comprising nine Egyptian oncologists) meeting was held after a comprehensive literature review on the use of cisplatin in HNSCC. The panel aimed to develop a consensus on evidence-based recommendations for receiving cisplatin in the chemoradiotherapy management of HNSCC in Egyptian clinical practice.

Recreational and occupational physical activity in relation to prostate cancer aggressiveness: the North Carolina-Louisiana Prostate Cancer Project (PCaP).

Purpose: To examine associations between recreational and occupational physical activity and prostate cancer aggressiveness in a population-based, case-only, incident prostate cancer study.

Methods: Data were analyzed from the cross-sectional North Carolina-Louisiana Prostate Cancer Project of African-American (n = 1,023) and European-American (n = 1,079) men newly diagnosed with prostate cancer (CaP). High-aggressive CaP was defined as Gleason sum ≥ 8, or prostate-specific antigen > 20 ng/ml, or Gleason sum ≥ 7 and clinical stage T3-T4.

Bilateral cataract in a child with blepharophimosis-ptosis-epicanthus inversus syndrome: A surgical challenge.

Introduction: Blepharophimosis-ptosis-epicanthus inversus syndrome (BPES) is a rare autosomal dominant genetic disorder characterized by complex orbito-palpebral anomalies. We report a rare case of BPES associated with bilateral congenital cataract.

Observation: This study reports the case of a 6-month-old infant with BPES in whom a bilateral congenital cataract was diagnosed, after the parents noticed leukocoria and signs of poor vision in their child.

Objectives: A study is presented of the association between FFM and physical activity in relation to age.

Methods: In a cross-sectional study, FFM was analyzed in relation to physical activity in a large participant group as compiled in the International Atomic Energy Agency Doubly Labeled Water database.

Energy compensation and adiposity in humans.

Understanding the impacts of activity on energy balance is crucial. Increasing levels of activity may bring diminishing returns in energy expenditure because of compensatory responses in non-activity energy expenditures. This suggestion has profound implications for both the evolution of metabolism and human health.
