Skin banks are valuable tools for the maintenance of biodiversity. The red-rumped agouti is a wild rodent of ecological importance in South America because it acts as a seed disperser, and skin banks could serve as alternatives to conserve genetic variability. Nevertheless, the most suitable skin region for forming these banks must still be determined to guarantee tissue quality after cryopreservation.

This study aims to assess the impact and cost-effectiveness of DiSS compared to traditional paper-based supportive supervision.
Methods And Analysis: A quasi-experimental research design incorporating interrupted time series regression analysis will be employed to evaluate the impact of DiSS.

Considering the importance of efficiently obtaining somatic resource banks as an ex-situ conservation strategy for wild mammals, we evaluated two techniques (slow freezing - SF and solid-surface vitrification - SSV) for the cryopreservation of ear cartilage and skin from six-banded armadillos. Additionally, we analyzed the effects of two combinations of intracellular cryoprotectants (3.0 M or 6.

Habronemosis, also known as habronemiasis or habronematidosis, is a parasitic disease of equids caused by the larval stages of Habronematidae nematodes (Habronema muscae, Habronema microstoma, and Draschia megastoma) that are transmitted by muscid flies. The presence of aberrant infective larvae in the cutaneous and conjunctival tissues of these hosts results in granulomatous, exudative, and ulcerated lesions, also known as "summer sores." In this study, we present a retrospective analysis of habronemosis cases in horses from the municipality of Lages, located on the Santa Catarina Plateau, a region with high altitudes and a temperate climate that differs from regions of Brazil where such parasitosis usually occurs.

Conservation of the genetic diversity through skin and cartilage biobanks represents an essential strategy for maintaining biodiversity. Biobanks for the wild species of the order Rodentia have been little studied. Considering that the cryopreservation technique has specific relationships with the tissue and species of interest, we propose investigating different techniques for preserving tissue integrity and cell viability after cartilage and skin culture from Spix's yellow-toothed cavies.

This study aimed to verify the number of R. microplus annual generations in irrigated and non-irrigated pastures compared to the constant ideal environment. It also sought to evaluate the biology of the non-parasitic phase of this tick for each generation in these different areas of pasture; assess the larvae population dynamics in the pasture of each tick generation, and evaluate the R.

To investigate the effects of different lighting on growth, chlorophyll content, and secondary metabolism, basil plants were grown from seedlings to fully expanded plants in microcosm devices under different light conditions: (a) white light at 250 and 380 μmol·m·s under 16/8 h light/dark and (b) white light at 380 μmol·m·s under 16/8 and 24/0 h light/dark.

Background: In vitro culture of fibroblasts is a technique based on cell isolation, physiological characterization, and cryopreservation. This technique has not been described for Galea spixii, therefore, it can be used to learn about its cellular biology and genetic diversity.
Objective: We established fibroblast lines of six G.
Somatic cell biobanking is a promising strategy for developing reproductive techniques. Although cryopreservation, a technique used for creating biobanks, has been performed on , structural and physiological damage to its cells highlight the need to optimize the cryoprotective solution being used. Therefore, the osmoprotective activity of 5 mM L-proline was evaluated as an alternative cryoprotectant for fibroblast conservation.

Nevertheless, the morphological and cellular patterns of the dermis can be influenced by the age and sex of the individual. Therefore, evaluating these factors is interesting for forming biobanks of Antillean manatees.

Materials And Methods: A sample of 24 patients (N = 32 abutment teeth) who needed a single-tooth restoration were enrolled to receive either a metal-ceramic (n = 21) or lithium disilicate (n = 11). The single-unit crowns were evaluated at baseline, 3-and 12-month follow-up.
Background: In 2022, fluralaner was launched on the market for use in the control of the cattle tick Rhipicephalus microplus after showing 100% efficacy in registration trials against the causative agents of cattle tick fever (TFAs). The aim of the present study was to determine whether a strategic control regimen against R. microplus using fluralaner (FLU) in Holstein calves grazing in a tropical region would alter the enzootic stability status of cattle tick fever, triggering outbreaks in these animals up to 22 months age.

This review aims to identify gaps in tools to increase awareness and to provide a bilingual framework to facilitate recognition of early MS symptoms.
Methods: We performed a literature review to determine the use of English and Spanish mnemonics in MS education for medical students and patients.
Purpose: To evaluate mydriatic handheld retinal imaging performance assessed by point-of-care (POC) artificial intelligence (AI) as compared with retinal image graders at a centralized reading center (RC) in identifying diabetic retinopathy (DR) and diabetic macular edema (DME).
Design: Prospective, comparative study.
Subjects: Five thousand five hundred eighty-five eyes from 2793 adult patients with diabetes.
The present work evaluated the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of the association of 15cmg/kg toltrazuril +5cmg/kg fenbendazole against Eimeria spp. and gastrointestinal nematodes (GINs) in calves of different regions of Brazil (Center-West, Southeast, and South). A total of seven experiments were carried out, five of which determined formulation efficacy against Eimeria spp.

Methods: Forty-five naturally infested cattle were divided into three experimental groups: T01, treated with fluralaner (2.5 mg/kg) pour-on every 42 days; T02, the cattle received the first treatment with fluralaner on Day 0 but the next treatment involved a weekly visual evaluation; T03, control, received palliative treatment with a spray formulation when the group mean was ≥ 30 ticks.
Schistosomiasis is a chronic and debilitating neglected tropical disease (NTD), second only to malaria as one of the most devastating parasitic diseases. Caused by a parasitic flatworm of the genus Schistosoma, infection occurs when skin comes in contact with contaminated freshwater that contains schistosome-hosting snails. The disease continues to be endemic in many regions of the Philippines, where it poses a significant public health challenge due to a lack of healthcare resources.

Although oocyte in vitro maturation (IVM) is routinely used for in vitro embryo production in mice and rats, its use in wild rodents remains unexplored. Evidence suggests that hormone and growth factor supplementation influence oocyte meiotic resumption. This study evaluated the synergistic effects of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and epidermal growth factor (EGF) on the IVM and parthenogenetic development of red-rumped agouti oocytes.
