Background: Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) thalamotomy of ventral intermediate (Vim) nucleus is useful to treat drug-resistant tremor-dominant Parkinson's disease (TdPD), but tremor relapse may occur. Predictors of relapse have been poorly investigated so far.
Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the role of clinico-demographic, procedural, and neuroradiological variables in determining clinical response, relapse, and adverse events (AEs) in TdPD after MRgFUS Vim-thalamotomy.
Objective: The client-practitioner relationship is the cornerstone of nurse home-visiting programs. Little is understood about how relationship-based maternal and early childhood health care is perceived by women in remote Aboriginal communities. As part of an evaluation of nurse home-visiting in the Northern Territory, this research examines how relationships are established with clients, and what elements are valued most by women.

However, to the best of our knowledge, no studies have assessed changes in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) during treatment with FTM monotherapy. The aim of the present study was to assess the neuroradiological findings in a cohort of patients with recurrent HGG treated with FTM monotherapy.

Our aim was to evaluate the presenting subjective and objective features of patients with suspected CES in comparison to those with radiologically confirmed cauda equina compression (CEC)..
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAmide Proton Transfer-weighted (APTw) imaging is a molecular MRI technique used to quantify protein concentrations in gliomas, which have heterogeneous components with varying cellularity and metabolic activity. This study aimed to assess the correlation between the component-specific APT signal of the neoplasm and WHO grade, molecular profile and survival status. Sixty-one patients with adult-type diffuse gliomas were retrospectively analyzed.

Two disk specimens were not submitted to anodization (controls). The nanotubes thus obtained had average dimensions of 50 nm in diameter by 900 nm in length.

In the molecular era, advances in understanding tumor genetic characteristics allowed the development of targeted therapies for this group of tumors; however, cost-effectiveness assessment of treatments, especially in low-income countries, is crucial. The aim is to describe the results of carboplatin desensitization protocol in a single center in a middle-income country.

Despite its popularity, a significant lack of evidence in the literature exists concerning microsurgical anatomy and pertinent surgical landmarks, resulting in non-standardized nomenclature, descriptions, and surgical approaches. Objective This study provides an in-depth microsurgical and descriptive analysis of the subarticular trigone (SAT), serving as an anatomical guide and a tool to foster consistency in nomenclature and standardization of surgical approaches.

Standing out for its excellent mechanical properties and durability, this material has been widely recognized as a viable choice for highly complex engineering projects. This paper proposes (i) the review of the influence exerted by the constituent materials on the mechanical properties of compressive strength, flexural tensile strength, and elastic modulus of UHPC and (ii) the determination of optimal quantities of the constituent materials based on simplified statistical analyses of the developed database.

JAK2 V617F is a frequent variant in these diseases and often occurs in the 46/1 haplotype. The G allele of rs10974944 has been shown to be associated with this variant, specifically its acquisition, correlations with familial cases, and laboratory alterations.

Methods: We recruited 16 naïve glioblastoma patients enrolled in a phase II trial consisting of the Stupp protocol (a standardized treatment for glioblastoma involving combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy with temozolomide, followed by adjuvant temozolomide) plus IT with dendritic cells.
The Paraná River Delta in South America, a large wetlands macromosaic, faces threats from climate change, human activities like livestock intensification, and hydrological modifications driven by the construction of water management infrastructure to prevent flooding in productive lands. Macroinvertebrates, essential for wetland health, are affected by cattle-induced changes in water quality, nutrient enrichment, and trampling, posing challenges to the ecosystem's ecological balance and long-term survival of these organisms. In this study, we analyzed the impact of two categories of cattle stocking rates (low and high) on the taxonomic and functional structure of the aquatic macroinvertebrate community in freshwater marshes.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFluorescein-mediated sonodynamic therapy (FL-SDT) is an extremely promising approach for glioma treatment, resulting from the combination of low-intensity focused ultrasound (FUS) with a sonosensitizer. In the present study, we evaluated the efficacy and immunomodulation of SDT with fluorescein as the sonosensitizer in immunocompetent GL261 glioma mice for the first time. In vitro studies demonstrated that the exposure of GL261 cells to FL-SDT induced immunogenic cell death and relevant upregulation of MHC class I, CD80 and CD86 expression.

Methods: PubMed Medline, EMBASE, and Web of Science were searched to identify MRI-based radiomic studies on MGMT methylation in gliomas published until December 31, 2022. Three raters evaluated the study methodological quality with Radiomics Quality Score (RQS, 16 components) and Transparent Reporting of a Multivariable Prediction Model for Individual Prognosis Or Diagnosis (TRIPOD, 22 items) scales.
The methylation of the O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase () promoter is a molecular marker associated with a better response to chemotherapy in patients with glioblastoma (GB). Standard pre-operative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) analysis is not adequate to detect promoter methylation. This study aims to evaluate whether the radiomic features extracted from multiple tumor subregions using multiparametric MRI can predict promoter methylation status in GB patients.

Qualitative neuroimaging studies have identified malformations of cortical development in some patients and mild atrophic changes, partially confirmed by quantitative studies. Precise correlations between MRI findings and clinical variables have not been addressed.
