Nepal needs Continuing Professional Development for Re-registration in Nursing and Midwifery.

The nursing and midwifery profession needs to stay up to date with the latest developments.  In this Viewpoint, we shall be referring to 'nurses' and 'nursing' to mean 'nurses and midwives' and 'nursing and midwifery' respectively. Nurses must continue to update their skills and competences to meet changing future population health needs effectively and safely.

Experience of Mindfulness Meditations Based on Stress Reduction among Undergraduate Nursing Students, Chitwan, Nepal.

Background: Undergraduate nursing students are frequently vulnerable to stress during their education with a high rate of attrition. Mindfulness Mediations based on Stress Reductions have been found to promote psychological well-being and mental health among nursing students. Therefore, the objective of the study was to explore the experiences of Mindfulness among undergraduate nursing students.

Perceived Burden of Care among Parents of Children with Sickle Cell Disease.

Background: Children affected with Sickle Cell Disease mostly depend on their parents for assistance which creates physical, emotional, social, and financial burdens among the parents. The objective of this study was to find out the level of perceived burden of care among parents of children with sickle cell disease in a hospital.

Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional research design was used with a quantitative approach.

Nurses' knowledge and attitudes regarding children's pain assessment and management in Nepal.

Pain is frequently experienced by children in hospital, and international guidelines for appropriate pain assessment and management are available. Optimal management of paediatric pain has important long-term health, psychosocial, and economic benefits. However, evidence indicates that globally there are deficits in nurses' understanding of paediatric pain assessment and management.

A comprehensive health effects assessment of the use of sanitizers and disinfectants during COVID-19 pandemic: a global survey.

COVID-19 has affected all aspects of human life so far. From the outset of the pandemic, preventing the spread of COVID-19 through the observance of health protocols, especially the use of sanitizers and disinfectants was given more attention. Despite the effectiveness of disinfection chemicals in controlling and preventing COVID-19, there are critical concerns about their adverse effects on human health.

Quality of Life of Nurses Working in a Tertiary Level Hospital.

Background: Quality of life refers to persons' sense of well-being based on their satisfaction with the important areas of their life. Work related stresses causes various physical and mental health problems to the nurses which reduces their quality of life. The study aimed to find out the quality of life of the nurses.

Stakeholders' perceptions of continuing professional development among Nepalese nurses: A focus group study.

Aim: This study explores perceptions of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities among stakeholders in the profession of nursing in Nepal.

Design: Qualitative study using focus group discussions (FGDs).

Methods: Eight FGDs were conducted in three major cities of Nepal with nursing stakeholders including nurse managers, matrons and directors/managers of private and public nursing colleges, representatives of nursing organizations, government officials, nursing academics and practitioners from the government and private sectors.

Introduction: The high burden of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in young children disproportionately occurs in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). The PROUD (Preventing RespiratOry syncytial virUs in unDerdeveloped countries) Taskforce of 24 RSV worldwide experts assessed key needs for RSV prevention in LMICs, including vaccine and newer preventive measures.

Methods: A global, survey-based study was undertaken in 2021.

Atrial Septal Defect Closure Via Mini Thoracotomy and with Peripheral Cannulation.

Background: Atrial septal defect is one of the most common congenital cardiac disorders requiring intervention. We compared a minimally invasive method for atrial septal defect closure that included total peripheral cannulation and an anterior mini-thoracotomy incision of 5 cm or less with a median sternotomy approach.

Methods: This was a retrospective cross-sectional study among patients with Atrial Septal Defect.

Background: Frontline Health Care Workers are at risk of developing mental and psychological distress during Corona virus disease 2019 pandemic. This study aimed to assess level of stress, anxiety, depression and their associated factors among health care workers during Corona virus disease 2019 pandemic in Nepal.

Methods: This is a web based cross-sectional survey conducted among 404 Health Care Workers during early phase of Corona virus disease 2019 pandemic.
