Communication research has long recognized the dynamic nature of most media stimuli and the corresponding dynamic emotional processing implied on the side of the audience. Capturing and analyzing these emotional dynamics during media reception is imperative for advancing our understanding of media processing and effects, but is not common practice in most communication research. This article highlights several methodological approaches to measuring the physiological, behavioral, and experiential components of emotions during media exposure: Electrodermal activity, automated facial expression analysis, continuous response measurement, and self-probed emotional retrospections.

This paper presents dielectric and neutron spectroscopy data on two different glycerol-water mixtures at elevated pressures. Glycerol-water liquid mixtures have a high concentration of hydrogen bonds which usually is expected to lead to complex dynamics. The resolution in Bonse-Hart double-crystal diffractometers is determined for a given Bragg angle by the value of the crystallographic structure factor. To date, the reflections Si 220 or Si 111 have been used exclusively in neutron scattering, which provide resolutions for triple-bounce crystals of about 2 × 10 Å (FWHM). The Darwin width of the GaAs 200 reflection is about a factor of 10 smaller, offering the possibility of a resolution of 2 × 10 Å provided crystals of sufficient quality are available.

Misinformation can profoundly impact an individual's attitudes-sometimes even after the misinformation has been corrected. In two preregistered experiments (N = 355, N = 725), we investigated whether individual differences in the ability and motivation to process information thoroughly influence the impact of misinformation in a news media context. More specifically, we tested whether fluid intelligence and need for cognition predicted the degree to which individuals who were exposed to misinformation changed their attitudes after receiving a correction message.

We present an analysis of high-resolution quasi-elastic neutron scattering spectra of phosphoglycerate kinase which elucidates the influence of the enzymatic activity on the dynamics of the protein. We show that in the active state the inter-domain motions are amplified and the intra-domain asymptotic power-law relaxation ∝t-α is accelerated, with a reduced coefficient α. Employing an energy landscape picture of protein dynamics, this observation can be translated into a widening of the distribution of energy barriers separating conformational substates of the protein.

By depicting an unrealistic share of skinny or toned body types, modern mass media have been found to shift users' perception of an ideal body toward narrow and often unattainable standards. In response to this, the "#bodypositivity" (BoPo) movement on social media has set out to challenge restrictive body ideals, advocating for more open-minded views toward the human physique. We report results from quasi-elastic neutron scattering studies on the rotational dynamics of formamidinium (HC[NH], FA) and methylammonium (CHNH, MA) cations in FAMAPbI with = 0 and 0.4 and compare it to the dynamics in MAPbI. For FAPbI, the FA cation dynamics evolve from nearly isotropic rotations in the high-temperature ( > 285 K) cubic phase through reorientations between preferred orientations in the intermediate-temperature tetragonal phase (140 K < ⩽ 285 K) to an even more complex dynamics, due to a disordered arrangement of the FA cations, in the low-temperature tetragonal phase ( ⩽ 140 K).
