Background: This article aims to study the research outcomes of five Nordic countries in terms of research publications, spend on R&D, outcomes and collaborations as these are important parameters to understand research thrust of the countries/regions, in addition to their innovation capability.

Methods: The research outcomes of the Nordic countries in terms of the total number of publications, coauthored publications, publications with corporate collaborators, citations, the Field Weighted Citation Index (FWCI) and publications in different subject areas were retrieved using Scopus and its associate SciVal. The research outcomes were extracted for five years from 2016-2020.

Research output provides an insight into the development of the scientific capability of a country. Budget allocation for research and development (R&D) is directly proportional to the research output of a country. Bibliometric analysis of South American countries has not been done in many studies.

Article Synopsis
  • Microorganisms often lead to the failure of root canal treatments due to their ability to penetrate root structures, complicating irrigation effectiveness because of biofilm growth.
  • This study aimed to create liposomes containing chlorhexidine to improve antibacterial action and penetration into dentinal tubules compared to standard chlorhexidine solutions.
  • Results showed that liposomal chlorhexidine had a better penetration depth in tooth roots and had lower cytotoxic effects on mouse fibroblast cells while also being more effective at reducing bacterial colony counts.*

Research output provides an insight into the development of the scientific capability of a country. Budget allocation for research and development (R&D) is directly proportional to the research output of a country. While developed countries spend a significant percentage of their GDP on R&D, developing countries do not have enough resources to invest in R&D.

Gastrointestinal (GI) cancer is a particularly sobering disease because it carries a high mortality rate. The characteristic tendency of GI cancers to reveal symptoms only in the malignant phase is the major contributing factor to its poor patient outcomes. Hence, it is critical to actively work towards identifying methods to diagnose this type of cancer in its early stages.

Background: Food impaction is a common risk factor for the initiation of peri-implant inflammation and failure of the osseointegrated implant. Although clinicians do acknowledge the presence of food impaction around implants and implant-retained prosthesis, no classification system has yet classified the food impaction around the implant and implant-retained prosthesis.

Purpose: The present paper aims to identify and classify the plausible etiology of food impaction around implants and implant-related prosthesis.

Statement Of Problem: Variation in the baseline mechanical properties of polyamide thermoplastic polymers used in the fabrication of prosthetic dental appliances and the effects of nonaldehyde disinfectants on the mechanical properties of these polymers are unclear.

Purpose: The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the flexural and impact strengths of 2 flexible denture materials (Valplast and Sunflex) and evaluate the effect of 24-hour immersion in nonaldehyde disinfectant (Perform) on their flexural and impact strengths.

Material And Methods: Of 48 specimens of Valplast and Sunflex, half were immersed in nonaldehyde disinfectant solution containing the active ingredient 2% peroxymonosulfate for 24 hours.

Purpose: Titanium based implant systems, though considered as the gold standard for rehabilitation of edentulous spaces, have been criticized for many inherent flaws. The onset of hypersensitivity reactions, biocompatibility issues, and an unaesthetic gray hue have raised demands for more aesthetic and tissue compatible material for implant fabrication. Zirconia is emerging as a promising alternative to conventional Titanium based implant systems for oral rehabilitation with superior biological, aesthetics, mechanical and optical properties.

Auricular defects comprise a large proportion of maxillofacial deformities. Most patients with acquired deformities have psychosocial ineptness and seek cosmetic rehabilitation. Although minor defects can be corrected surgically, extensive deformities are difficult to reconstruct with plastic surgery.

The loss of all or part of a finger following traumatic amputation may have a negative impact on physical and psychological well-being. An esthetic prosthesis can offer psychological, functional, and rehabilitative advantages. One of the major problems associated with somato-prosthetic replacement of partially amputated finger is inadequate retention of the prosthesis.

Statement Of Problem: Given that meticulous implant prosthodontic procedures are recommended to obtain the best possible intraoral fit, the die systems used for multi implant casts warrant further investigation. Die stone expansion and errors introduced by removable die casts may exceed the accuracy required for the passive fit of implant prosthesis.

Purpose: The purpose of the study was to evaluate the linear dimensional accuracy between the implant master die and three conceptually different die systems such as Pindex system, Accu-trac precision die system, and Conventional brass dowel pin system.
