Background: Chrysin, a polyphenolic compound, possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. In this study, we investigated the effect of chrysin on the expression of A disintegrin and metalloproteinase with thrombospondin motifs-4 (ADAMTS-4), a protease enzyme involved in degrading extracellular matrix associated with atherosclerosis.

Introduction: Despite remarkable strides in global efforts to reduce maternal mortality, low-and middle-income countries (LMICs) continue to grapple with a disproportionate burden of maternal mortality, with malnutrition emerging as a significant contributing factor to this enduring challenge. Shockingly, malnourished women face a mortality risk that is twice as high as their well-nourished counterparts, and a staggering 95% of maternal deaths in 2020 occurred within LMICs. The critical importance of addressing maternal malnutrition in resource-constrained settings cannot be overstated, as compelling research studies have demonstrated that such efforts could potentially save thousands of lives.

They are duplicated once during the cell cycle [3], and the duplication involves assembly of a cartwheel on the pre-existing centriole followed by assembly of triplet microtubules around the cartwheel [4, 5]. Background & Objectives: Neurolathyrism is a non progressive motor neuron disorder engendered by the prolonged over-consumption of Lathyrus sativus (grass pea) seeds which contain a neurotoxic amino acid, β-N oxalyl- L-α, β-diaminopropionic acid (β-ODAP). It is characterized by spastic paraparesis in the hind limbs. Neurolathyrism is associated with a complex pattern of alterations in the glutamatergic system of the cortical motor region of brain. It is a neurological disorder consorted with excessive consumption of Lathyrus sativus (Grass pea), comprising large amounts of the neurotoxin, β-N-oxalyl-L-α,β-diaminopropionic acid (ODAP). ODAP being a potent agonist of ionotropic glutamate receptors enhances their activity and also blocks the astrocytic glutamate/cystine transporters, abutting the neurons.
