Treatment of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma with gemcitabine is limited by an increased desmoplasia, poor vascularization, and short plasma half-life. Heat-sensitive liposomes modified by polyethylene glycol (PEG; PEGylated liposomes) can increase plasma stability, reduce clearance, and decrease side effects. Nevertheless, translation of heat-sensitive liposomes to the clinic has been hindered by the low loading efficiency of gemcitabine and by the difficulty of inducing hyperthermia in vivo.

Introduction: Patients who have suffered a stroke may present with visuospatial neglect (VSN). In clinical practice, different degrees of impairment can be observed among patients with VSN; however, there is no consensus regarding the criteria and tests used to determine them.

Aim: This study aims to classify patients with VSH based on their level of impairment and to study their response to computerized cognitive training.

Purpose: To determine whether hypercapnia is associated with risk of hospital readmission related to anorexia nervosa (AN) in children and adolescents.

Methods: We performed a prospective study of patients ≤ 18 years old admitted due to AN decompensation from November 2018 to October 2019. Both subtypes of AN, restricting subtype (AN-R) and binge-eating/purging subtype (AN-BP), were included.

Recent interest in nanomedicine has skyrocketed because of mRNA vaccine lipid nanoparticles (LNPs) against COVID-19. Ironically, despite this success, the innovative nexus between nanotechnology and biochemistry, and the impact of nanoparticles on enzyme biochemical activity is poorly understood. The studies of this group on zinc nanoparticle (ZNP) compositions suggest that nanorod morphologies are preferred and that ZNP doped with manganese or iron can increase activity against model enzymes such as luciferase, DNA polymerase, and β-galactosidase (β-Gal), with the latter previously being associated with antimicrobial activity.

Background: Fanconi syndrome (FS) can be of primary or secondary origin. Some cases of FS secondary to the use of sodium valproate (VPA) have been described, mostly in children with severe psychomotor retardation who are fed by feeding device. The objetive of this study was to describe patients treated for this entity in our center, comparing them against the published literature.

Objectives: To assess the usefulness of a computerized tasks module designed for the rehabilitation of social cognition (SC) in acquired brain injury.

Methods: Quasi-randomized controlled trial (ClinicalTrials.gov:NCT03479970) involving 45 patients with moderate-severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a subacute inpatient rehabilitation hospital.

The emergence of SARS-CoV-2 variants is cause for concern, because these may become resistant to current vaccines and antiviral drugs in development. Current drugs target viral proteins, resulting in a critical need for RNA-targeted nanomedicines. To address this, a comparative analysis of SARS-CoV-2 variants was performed.

Introduction: Treatment with iron chelators is essential for patients with iron overload secondary to repeated trans fusions. Deferasirox is the first once-daily oral active iron chelator. As a result, therapeutic adherence has improved, reducing the complications of iron overload, especially heart failure.

Introduction: Lupus nephritis is an early manifestation in the development of systemic lupus erythematosus that worsens the morbidity and mortality of these patients.

Objective: To study the form of presentation in patients with lupus nephritis, the clinical and immunological characteristics, and their relationship with renal histology.

Patients And Method: Retrospective study in children under 18 years of age, with lupus nephritis, in follow-up in a third level children's hospital in Madrid, between January 2012 and May 2020.

Introduction: Tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) displays great phenotypic variability. Increasingly early diagnosis, including prenatal identification, entails the need for the paediatrician and neuropaediatrician to establish early suspicion and identification of factors that may influence prognosis and treatment.

Aim: To determine the clinical criteria for early diagnosis, initial complementary tests, actions and treatments to prevent different comorbidities, so as to improve the prognosis of these patients.

Objectives: The first aim was to study the relationship between Social Cognition (SC) and nonsocial Cognition (n-SC) measures in a group of patients with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury (TBI) to assess the dependence or independence of both types of cognition. The second aim was to explore the relationships between SC measures and generate a model based on the results of these relationships.

Methods And Procedures: Forty-three subacute patients with TBI were included in the study.

Introduction: Patients with unilateral visuospatial neglect secondary to a stroke are usually unaware of the fact that their perception and exploration of contralesional space are deficient. This clinical phenomenon, know as anosognosia, directly conditions the rehabilitation process and prolongs its duration to a significant extent, while also making it more difficult for the patient to adhere to it.

Aim: To assess the efficacy of a specific rehabilitation programme for the treatment of anosognosia in patients presenting with unilateral visuospatial neglect.

Hemolytic-uremic syndrome (HUS) is defined as the triad of nonimmune hemolytic anemia, thrombocytopenia, and acute renal failure, in which the underlying lesions are mediated by systemic thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA). The atypical HUS (aHUS) can be considered a subtype of HUS that is rare in childhood and has a worse prognosis. Recent findings have established that the TMA in aHUS are consequences of the disregulation of the complement activation, leading to endotelial damage mediated by the complement terminal pathway.

The objective of this study was to examine visual scanning performance in patients with Unilateral Spatial Neglect (USN) in a visual search task. Thirty-one right hemisphere stroke patients with USN were recruited. They performed a dynamic visual search task with two conditions, with and without distractors, while eye movements were monitored with an eye-tracker.

Unlabelled: Mitochondrial diseases (MD) are a heterogeneous group of clinical syndromes characterized by the involvement of different organ systems. They constitute the most prevalent hereditary metabolic disease group.

Objective: To review the importance of the kidney in MD from the nephrologist's perspective within the setting of a pediatric tertiary reference center.

Background: Visuo-spatial neglect predicts longer hospitalization, poorer recovery of motor skills and greater functional limitation. The aim of the present study was to analyze whether the combined administration of computerized cognitive rehabilitation with right hemifield eye-patching in patients with left spatial neglect following a right hemisphere stroke is more effective than computerized cognitive rehabilitation applied in isolation.

Method: Randomized clinical trial conducted in 28 patients.
