Objective: To evaluate the therapeutic effect of sacubitril/valsartan compared to enalapril in managing heart failure (HF) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
Methods: From January 2018 to December 2021, 63 hospitalized patients diagnosed with HF following acute myocardial infarction (AMI) were enrolled in this prospective clinical trial. The observation group was comprised of 31 patients treated with sacubitril/valsartan (LCZ696) sodium tablets, while the control group, including 32 patients, received enalapril maleate tablets.
Identifying the frequencies of drug-side effects is crucial for assessing drug risk-benefit. However, accurately determining these frequencies remains challenging due to the limitations of time and scale in clinical randomized controlled trials. As a result, several computational methods have been proposed to address these issues.

This study evaluates NIRAF's effectiveness in real-world surgical settings, highlighting its potential to enhance surgical outcomes and patient safety.
Aim: We evaluate the effectiveness of NIRAF in detecting PGs during thyroidectomy and central neck dissection and investigate autofluorescence characteristics in both fresh and paraffin-embedded tissues.
Objective: To enhance the accuracy in predicting lymph node metastasis (LNM) preoperatively in patients with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma (PTMC), refining the "low-risk" classification for tailored treatment strategies.
Methods: This study involves the development and validation of a predictive model using a cohort of 1004 patients with PTMC undergoing thyroidectomy along with central neck dissection. The data was divided into a training cohort (n = 702) and a validation cohort (n = 302).

Objective: Serum creatinine (SCr) is not a sensitive and reliable index for the early diagnosis of acute kidney injury caused by contrast-induced nephropathy (CIN). The aim of this study was to explore the values of serum neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin (NGAL) and cystatin C (Cys-C) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for the early diagnosis of CIN.
Methods: Three hundred patients receiving PCI from January 2018 to December 2020 were assigned to a CIN group (n=25) and a non-CIN group (n=275), respectively.
Toxic arsenic (As) and trace element selenium (Se) are transformed by microorganisms but their complex interactions in soil-plant systems have not been fully understood. An As- and Se- oxidizing bacterium, Agrobacterium sp. T3F4, was applied to a native seleniferous As-polluted soil to investigate As/Se uptake by the vegetable Brassica rapa L.

This study identified an Sb(III) metallochaperone AntC in the Sb(III) efflux operon antRCA of Comamonas testosteroni JL40. The deletion of AntC significantly increased the intracellular Sb content in strain JL40 and concomitantly diminished resistance to Sb(III).

Methods: A total of 96 patients with NSCLC admitted to our hospital from November 2019 to November 2022 were regarded as the study subjects. In the meantime, 96 volunteers who had physical examination in our hospital were regarded as the control group.
Little is known about the association between the free triiodothyronine/free thyroxine (FT3/FT4) ratio and clinical outcomes in euthyroid patients with non-ST-segment elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). A total of 1448 euthyroid patients with NSTE-ACS who underwent PCI were included in this prospective study. Multivariate Cox regression analysis revealed that there was a significantly increased risk of stroke (hazard ratio [HR] 11.

To explore mechanisms of acquired resistance to ATRi in ovarian cancer, we characterized ATRi-resistant ovarian cancer cells generated by metronomic dosing with the clinical ATR inhibitor AZD6738.
Methods: ATRi-resistant ovarian cancer cells (OVCAR3 and OV90) were generated by dosing with AZD6738 and assessed for sensitivity to Chk1i (LY2603618), PARPi (Olaparib) and combination with cisplatin or a CDK4/6 inhibitor (Palbociclib).
Background And Objective: There are a substantial proportion of elderly patients with ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) miss the optimal time window (12 h from symptom onset) of primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). For these patients, the ideal timing of delayed PCI remains undetermined. Therefore, this study compared the clinical outcomes of early versus late delayed PCI in elderly patients with STEMI.

In some patients with well-controlled blood pressure, target organ damage still occurs. GLP-1 agonists have significant cardiovascular benefits, but their antihypertensive effect is limited.

CGA-N12, an anti-Candida peptide found by our group, disrupted cell wall architecture by inhibiting the activity of the protein killer-resistant 9 (KRE9), a β-1,6-glucan synthase specific to Candida spp. and plants.

This study aimed to examine clinical prognosis among culprit vessel, immediate multivessel, and staged percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in patients with NSTEMI and MVD.
Methods: This retrospective, observational, single-center study included 943 hemodynamically stable patients with NSTEMI and MVD who had undergone successful drug-eluting stent (DES) implantation from January 2014 to December 2019.
It is challenging to insulate sound transmission in low frequency-bands without blocking the air flow in a pipe. In this work, a small and light membrane-based cubic sound insulator is created to block acoustic waves in multiple low frequency-bands from 200 to 800 Hz in pipes. Due to distinct vibration modes of the membrane-type faces of the insulator and co-action of acoustic waves transmitting along different paths, large sound attenuation is achieved in multiple frequency-bands, and the maximum transmission loss reaches 25 dB.

Different from most existing prescribed performance consensus control methods where certain initial conditions are needed to be satisfied, here the restriction related to the initial conditions is removed and global tracking result irrespective of initial condition is established. Furthermore, output consensus tracking is achieved asymptotically with arbitrarily prescribed transient performance in spite of the directed topology and unknown control directions.

We aimed to identify patient characteristics and risk factors for premature CHD, including single-vessel disease (SVD) and multivessel disease (MVD).

Noble metal nanoclusters have attracted much attention because of their excellent fluorescence properties. In this work, we demonstrated a dual-emission fluorescent nanocomposite based on silver nanoclusters. First, we synthesized positively charged His-AgNCs, which emits intense blue light, and then Ag nanoclusters with stable red emission were synthesized using DHLA as the ligand.

Objective: We established the baseline rate of SCH and followed the trajectory of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) values during and after hospitalisation for PCI for up to six months and determined whether persistent SCH was associated with the severity of coronary artery disease and MACCE in patients with NSTE-ACS after PCI.
Design: Population-based prospective cohort study.
Studies have highlighted the role of the triglyceride to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (TG/HDL-C) ratio on subsequent cardiovascular events. However, the association of the TG/HDL-C ratio with survival outcomes in diabetic patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) treated with statins remains unknown. This study aimed to assess the predictive value of the TG/HDL-C ratio for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular death in diabetic patients with CAD treated with statins.

Antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) are conventional antibiotic alternatives due to their broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities and special mechanisms of action against pathogens. The antifungal peptide CGA-N12 was originally derived from human chromogranin A (CGA) and consists of the 65th to 76th amino acids of the CGA N-terminal region. In the present study, we found that CGA-N12 had fungicidal activity and exhibited time-dependent inhibition activity against Candida tropicalis.
