- Balance deficits are a major factor in predicting falls among older adults, and this study evaluates the effectiveness of the BESTest and Mini-BESTest in identifying those at risk.
- The study involved 200 older adults, who were assessed using various balance tests, and focused on comparing the accuracy of the BESTest, Mini-BESTest, Berg Balance Scale (BBS), and Timed Up and Go Test (TUG).
- Results indicated that the Mini-BESTest outperformed the other tests in identifying individuals with a history of falls, achieving an area under the curve (AUC) of 0.84, and a posttest accuracy of 85% at a cutoff score of 16.
