Aim: To evaluate the morphology of the mastoid process and its role in sex determination with the help of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT).
Materials And Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on 200 adults who were subjected to full FOV CBCT scans (100 males and 100 females). Eight parameters of the mastoid process were assessed for sex determination.
The Afghan pika (Gray, 1842) is widely distributed across the mountains of Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, and southwestern Turkmenistan, most often at elevations between 2,000 and 3,000 m. Here we present, for the first time, the complete mitochondrial genomes of two specimens of the nominotypical subspecies , de novo assembled from Illumina short reads of fragmented probe-enriched DNA. The lengths of the circular mitogenomes are 16,408 bp and 16,407 bp, respectively.

In an attempt to address this issue, we describe a modified CTAB DNA extraction method that proved to work significantly better with a number of freshwater and terrestrial gastropod taxa.
