Dypsis lutescens, commonly known as areca palm, is a highly valued ornamental species due to its aesthetic value. However, the foliage is vulnerable to various pathogens, particularly those responsible for fungal leaf spot diseases. In October 2023, a severe incidence (93 %) of destructive leaf spots was recorded on Dypsis lutescens at the University of Agricultural Sciences, GKVK, Bangalore, and surrounding areas.
