Translation and validation of menopause quick 6 (MQ6) into the Malay language.

Background: Inquiring conservative Asian women about their menopausal symptoms is often challenging in crowded primary healthcare clinics. Furthermore, the subject matter is culturally sensitive to most Malaysian women. Hence, the translation of MQ6 into Malay is crucial to enable self-administration, eliminating the necessity for interviewers and mitigating potential respondent shyness.

Health-Seeking Behaviors and Treatments Received for Menopause Symptoms: A Questionnaire Survey among Midlife Women Attending Primary Healthcare Clinics in Malaysia.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess menopause symptoms, treatment-seeking behaviors, treatments received, and factors associated with seeking consultation from healthcare providers (HCPs).

Methods: Using a self-administered Menopause Quick-6 in the Malay language (MQ6[M]) questionnaire, we surveyed 349 women aged 40-60 years attending primary healthcare clinics in four states in Malaysia for their menopause symptoms. Health-seeking behaviors for menopause symptoms were assessed using questions regarding HCPs consulted and treatments prescribed.

Facilitators and barriers for tuberculosis preventive treatment among patients with latent tuberculosis infection: a qualitative study.

Background: Various factors influence tuberculosis preventive treatment (TPT) decisions thus it is important to understand the health beliefs and concerns of patients before starting TPT to ensure treatment compliance. This study aims to explore facilitators and barriers for TPT among patients diagnosed with Latent Tuberculosis infection (LTBI) attending six primary healthcare clinics in Selangor, Malaysia.

Method: In-depth interviews were conducted face-to-face or via telephone among patients with a clinical diagnosis of LTBI using a semi-structured topic guide developed based on the common-sense model of self-regulation and literature review.

Facilitators and barriers to latent tuberculosis infection treatment among primary healthcare workers in Malaysia: a qualitative study.

Background: Healthcare workers (HCWs) have an increased risk of active and latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) compared to the general population. Despite existing guidelines on the prevention and management of LTBI, little is known about why HCWs who tested positive for LTBI refuse treatment. This qualitative study sought to explore the facilitators and barriers to LBTI treatment uptake among primary HCWs in Malaysia.

Development and implementation of a community-based COVID-19 assessment centre in Selangor: A descriptive study.

Introduction: With the rising number of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia and the overwhelming strain on the tertiary healthcare system, home isolation has been introduced by the Ministry of Health Malaysia to reduce the admission of patients with mild COVID-19 to tertiary and low-risk quarantine centres. COVID-19 assessment centres (CACs) have been set up to provide initial assessment, triaging and monitoring of patients with COVID-19 prior to and during their home isolation. In this study, we aimed to share our experience in setting up CACs in Selangor, Malaysia.

Electronic cigarettes use and 'dual use' among the youth in 75 countries: estimates from Global Youth Tobacco Surveys (2014-2019).

We report the country-level prevalence of awareness about electronic cigarette use, and 'dual use' and its association with age, sex, country income, and e-cigarette regulatory status. We analyzed the most recent Global Youth Tobacco Surveys done on nationally representative samples of school-going youth aged 13-15 years in 75 countries/territories. The weighted prevalence of 'awareness' (heard about e-cigarettes), 'ever use' (even tried a few puffs), 'current use' (during the last 30 days), and 'dual use' (e-cigarette use and cigarette smoking during the last 30 days) were estimated.

Smokeless tobacco consumption and its association with tobacco control factors in the Western Pacific Region: results from the Global Youth Tobacco Survey 2015-2019.

Objectives: We estimated the prevalence of smokeless tobacco (ST) consumption and its associations with tobacco control factors among school-going youth in 18 Western Pacific Region (WPR) countries.

Methods: We analyzed school-based Global Youth Tobacco Survey (2014-2019) microdata from 18 WPR countries and estimated weighted prevalence rates of ST consumption, cigarette smoking, and dual use. We used multilevel binary logistic regression to examine the associations of ST consumption and dual use with demographic variables, exposure to pro-tobacco and anti-tobacco factors, national income, and MPOWER indicators.

Awareness About and E-Cigarette Use Among Adults in 15 Low- and Middle-Income Countries, 2014-2018 Estimates From Global Adult Tobacco Surveys.

Introduction: E-cigarette (EC) use is seldom reported from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). We report the prevalence of "awareness" about EC, its use, and distribution of EC use by sociodemographic factors and cigarette smoking (CS) status.

Aims And Methods: We analyzed Global Adult Tobacco Survey data in Bangladesh, China, Costa Rica, Ethiopia, India, Kazakhstan, Mexico, Philippines, Romania, Russia, Senegal, Ukraine, Turkey, Uruguay, and Viet Nam during 2014-2018.
