Demographic analysis of survival trends in squamous cell carcinoma of the upper 1/3 of the esophagus: a population-based study.

Esophageal malignancies, constituting 3% of global cancers, pose significant health challenges with poor survival rates. Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) and Adenocarcinoma (AC) are predominant subtypes, with shifting incidences globally. This analysis will focus primarily on the demographics of survival trends for Squamous cell carcinoma of esophagus (SCCE).

Stem Cell Origin of Cancer: Clinical Implications beyond Immunotherapy for Drug versus Therapy Development in Cancer Care.

Although immunotherapy has revolutionized cancer care, there is still an urgent need to enhance its efficacy and ensure its safety. A correct cancer theory and proper scientific method empower pertinent cancer research and enable effective and efficient drug versus therapy development for patient care. In this perspective, we revisit the concept of immune privilege in a cancer cell versus normal cell, as well as in a cancer stem cell versus normal stem cell.

Amyloid Light-Chain (AL) Amyloidosis of the Trachea Associated With an Indolent B-cell Neoplasm.

We report the case of a 66-year-old woman who was diagnosed with localized tracheal amyloid light-chain (AL) amyloidosis caused by an underlying B-cell neoplasm. The diagnosis was confirmed through subsequent bronchoscopy and biopsies; however, she experienced a challenging episode of hypoxic respiratory failure that required intervention. Repeat bronchoscopies showed persistent subglottic stenosis and tracheobronchomalacia, which led to tracheal debulking surgery and additional interventions.
