Introduction: The lateral intercostal artery perforator flap (LICAP) has emerged as one of the safest and less morbid flaps for lateral and central breast defects. We hereby describe a reproducible no Doppler single position (NDSP) technique to harvest it in single position without handheld Doppler, making it a versatile flap for lateral breast defects in resource-limited setting also.

Materials And Methods: With this technique, we performed a total of 22 LICAP turnover flaps over a period of 18 months from January 2020 to June 2021.

Background and objective It has been observed that peripheral oxygen saturation (SpO) measured by pulse oximeter is consistently lower than arterial oxygen saturation (SaO) measured directly by blood gas analysis. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the correlation between SpO and SaO, and SpO and partial pressure of oxygen (PaO), and compare the SpO/FiO(SF) and PaO/FiO(PF) ratios in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods In this observational study, SpO was recorded and arterial blood gas analysis was performed among 70 COVID-19 patients presenting on room air (FiO= 0.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study examined 2,080 COVID-19 patients during India’s second wave (April-June 2021), finding a 19.5% fatality rate and revealing that older patients (over 45) had significantly higher death odds compared to younger patients (18-44).
  • - Vaccination significantly decreased the risk of death by 40%, and patients exhibiting signs of hyperinflammation had higher mortality rates.
  • - The findings suggest that improving vaccination rates and ensuring early hospital admission during the inflammatory phase can lead to better patient outcomes with COVID-19.

Article Synopsis
  • - Ivermectin is being tested as a potential treatment for COVID-19 due to its effectiveness in reducing the viral load of SARS-CoV-2 in the lab, prompting clinical trials with hospitalized patients to assess its real-world efficacy.
  • - A double-blind, randomized controlled trial administered Ivermectin at either 24 mg or 12 mg doses, or a placebo, to investigate its impact on viral load and RT-PCR test results in patients with mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
  • - Results showed that while RT-PCR negativity was higher in the Ivermectin groups compared to placebo, the differences weren't statistically significant, indicating that Ivermectin did not effectively reduce viral load or improve test outcomes within the study timeframe. *
