Community-Engaged Development of Strengths-Based Nutrition Measures: The Indigenous Nourishment Scales.

Mainstream approaches to nutrition typically focus on diet consumption, overlooking multi-dimensional aspects of nutrition that are important to American Indian/Alaska Native (AI/AN) communities. To address health challenges faced by AI/AN communities, strengths-based measures of nutrition grounded in community worldviews are needed. In collaboration with AI/AN communities in Baltimore and Minneapolis, we developed the Indigenous Nourishment Scales through three phases.

Evaluation of an Indigenous Produce Box Program: Food Access and Nutrition in an Urban American Indian/Alaska Native Community.

Food insecurity and access to healthy nutritious foods are ongoing issues for urban Indigenous communities across the United States. This manuscript describes a qualitative evaluation of a produce box program implemented by the Native American Community Clinic in Minneapolis and provides recommendations for sustainability of the program in the future.

Pilot randomised controlled trial of a culturally aligned smoking cessation app for American Indian persons.

Objective: To pilot test QuitGuide for Natives, a culturally aligned version of the National Cancer Institute's QuitGuide smartphone app for smoking cessation.

Methods: This randomised controlled trial was conducted remotely during 2022-2023. American Indian adults who smoked and resided in the Midwest (n=115) were randomised to QuitGuide for Natives or the general audience QuitGuide smartphone-based intervention.
