Objective: The primary objective of this article was to systematically review the prevalence of somatic symptoms in patients, healthcare workers and general population during the COVID-19 pandemic. The secondary objectives were to record the association between somatic symptoms and indices of mental distress and to record the qualitative characteristics of such somatic complaints.
Methods: Following the PRISMA methodology we systematically searched PubMed, Scopus and Google Scholar for primary research reporting on somatic symptoms in association with mental distress.
Pesticide leaching models is an easy and cost effective method used in the prediction of surface and groundwater pollution. In this paper, the ability of two pesticide leaching models, MACRO and PEARL, to describe soil water dynamics and atrazine's transport through the soil profile was examined. The data used for the comparison was obtained from an experiment in an irrigated corn field in the plain of the Ardas River, in north-eastern Greece.

Aegean, Greece) was selected in order to investigate water quality parameters [pH, electrical conductivity (EC(w)), NO(3)-N, NH(4)-N, total phosphorus (TP)] in irrigation and drainage water. In the study area, the cultivated crops are mainly rice, maize, cotton, and fodder.

Methods: Three hundred patients who had undergone surgery on the thyroid gland were divided into 2 groups of 150 patients each. Hemostasis as well as division of blood vessels and thyroid tissue were performed with the use of UAS in the first group and by conventional ligations in the second group.

This paper presents a Decision Support System (DSS) approach developed in the context of the Copernicus project entitled System for Water Monitoring and Sustainable Management based on Ground Stations and Satellite Images (WATERMAN). The main objective of WATERMAN is the monitoring and management of the Strymon River in the Southern Balkans. The specific DSS integrates the main components of WATERMAN and helps the decision maker to monitor the Strymon region; to control and forecast the quantity and quality of the river water; as well as to make objective decisions about the state of the water based on data provided by radio computers, earth stations and satellite images processed by mathematical and statistical models and Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
View Article and Find Full Text PDFAcute tissue ischemia is usually followed by considerable disturbances of cellular metabolism that often lead to cell death. Reperfusion improves cellular function by withdrawing the toxic products of ischemia and providing energy sources, although sometimes it worsens it. The purpose of this experimental work is to study the metabolic disturbances in skeletal muscle tissue of canines after prolonged acute ischemia in relation to the values of certain substances (ATP, lactate, pyruvate, the ratio of lactate to pyruvate [L/P], and glucose) and whether the alterations in the values of these substances could be used as prognostic indices of the magnitude of tissue damage and the possibility of inverting it.

The suitability of culture supernatant from Streptomyces albus ATCC 3005 for use in the biobleaching of eucalyptus kraft pulp was investigated. S. albus was found to grow on a minimal salts medium containing oat spelts xylan and yeast extract as the main carbon and nitrogen sources, respectively.

Maximum peroxidase activity was obtained after 72 h of incubation at a temperature of 30 degrees C in a liquid medium (pH 7.
