Introduction And Objectives: The recommendation for dual antiplatelet therapy following drug-eluting stent implantation ranges from 6 months to 12 months or beyond. Recent trials have suggested the safety of a 6-month dual antiplatelet therapy regimen, yet certain caveats to these studies limit the applicability of this shorter duration dual antiplatelet therapy strategy in real world settings.
Methods: A registry was constructed with consecutive recruitment of patients undergoing new-generation drug-eluting stent implantation and prescribed 6 months of dual antiplatelet therapy.
Introduction And Objectives: Over the last few years, our understanding of the mechanisms underlying cardiac arrhythmias has increased substantially. However, few data on their prevalence exist. Our objectives were to analyze the prevalence of cardiac arrhythmias and conduction disturbances in cardiology clinic outpatients and to determine the number of patients with a class-I or -IIa recommendation for electrophysiological studies (EPS).

We assessed whether post-PCI troponin I concentrations bore any relationship to clinical, angiographic and in-laboratory minor adverse events indicative of myocardial injury and evaluated, in follow-up, whether these levels are useful as a predictive markers of adverse events.
Methods: Patients (n=147) who were scheduled for PCI for stent placement were prospectively studied.
Introduction And Objectives: The ACC/AHA/ESC 2001 guidelines for the management of atrial fibrillation (AF) establish 4 categories: first episode, paroxysmal, persistent and permanent. The aim of this study was to analyze the frequency of the different clinical patterns of presentation of AF in hospitalized patients.
Patients And Method: We analyzed the pattern of AF in 300 hospitalized patients, 200 of whom were admitted to the cardiology and 100 to the internal medicine department.
We report a case of spontaneous dissection of the left main coronary artery in a 32-year-old healthy woman that was unrelated with childbirth or other known risk factors. The clinical presentation was an extensive acute anterior myocardial infarction. She was treated by thrombolysis, but did not meet reperfusion criteria.

The characteristic echocardiographic findings of this disease consist of multiple myocardial trabeculations and deep intertrabecular recesses communicating with the left ventricular cavity. Familial occurrence has been observed.
