Purpose: Recently, the use of rapid deployment (RD) aortic valve prostheses has been introduced for the treatment of aortic valve replacement (AVR), showing excellent hemodynamic performances.According to these data, some groups have proposed new RD valves as an alternative solution in the case of infective aortic endocarditis (IAE) to reduce the use of foreign materials, and the manipulation of the annulus.The aim of this review is to report the results of early clinical experiences with the use of RD bioprostheses in the case of IAE, in order to discuss technical and clinical aspects of this emerging strategy to better elucidate its advantages and limitations as a potential therapeutic solution.

Although during recent decades the prompt clinical management of myocardial infarction has significantly reduced the incidence of mechanical complications, post-infarction heart failure is still an open issue. The surgical ventricular reconstruction technique, also called the "Dor procedure", was introduced as a surgical strategy to reduce left ventricular volume and restore its shape and function by performing an endoventricular circular patch plasty. Although its use was not clearly beneficial, there is growing evidence from specialized centres suggesting its safety and efficacy, thus bringing this technique back to a leading role in the surgical armamentarium to treat patients with heart failure.

Methods: This single-centre retrospective study included consecutive patients who underwent percutaneous TF-TAVI from 2009 to 2021. A propensity score-matched analysis was performed to compare early and long-term clinical results between patients with VC and without VC (nVC).
Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate the long-term outcomes of concomitant suture bicuspidization to treat mild or moderate tricuspid regurgitation at the time of mitral valve (MV) surgery.
Methods: Data from patients who underwent MV surgery for degenerative MV regurgitation with mild or moderate tricuspid regurgitation and annular dilatation between January 2009 and December 2017 were analysed. The cohort was divided into 2 groups: mitral valve surgery alone (MVA) and MV surgery with concomitant tricuspid valve (TV) repair.
Background: Minimally invasive procedures have demonstrated their effectiveness in reducing the recovery times while ensuring optimal results and minimizing complications. Regarding the coronary artery surgical revascularization field, the evolution of techniques and technology is permitting new surgical strategies that are increasingly precise and suitable for each patient. Methods: We collected the records of patients who had undergone aortic root surgery with the SVST or standard David technique (SDT) at our institution between January 2009 and December 2018. The primary endpoints were the incidence of all-cause death, reoperation for any reason, and postoperative complications.
Objectives: The hypothermic circulatory arrest is a major limitation of the frozen elephant trunk (FET) technique, associated with a high incidence of postoperative mobility and mortality. The aim of this study was to evaluate the surgical outcomes of patients suffering from different aortic arch diseases treated with the release and perfuse technique (RPT).
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed the records of patients who had undergone aortic arch repair with the RPT at our Institution between October 2019 and September 2021.
Prosthetic replacement of the aortic arch requires a cardiopulmonary bypass and deep hypothermic circulatory arrest. Thus, it is associated with major perioperative risks, and custom-made devices have been developed. However, the time required for this procedure precludes emergency cases, and anatomical prerequisites limit the creation of appropriate devices.

The literature on pregnant women with COVID-19 who require ECMO is sparse.
Case Report: We describe here the earliest-fetal-age pregnant patient with COVID-19 who underwent ECMO yet reported, who kept her child while under close follow-up with magnetic resonance imagery and ultrasound.
